Gorillas weigh up to about 440lbs, whereas a grizzly can weigh as much as 1,500lbs. So a grizzly bear has the definite weight advantage. Also as far as hardware goes, the grizzly bear's teeth and claws trump a gorilla's teeth and bare knuckles.

The only advantage a gorilla might have agains the bear is the ability to use tools. It's conceivable that a gorilla might be able to use some sort of rudamentary weapon such as a club, but club or not, if the bear is determined to kill the great ape, the gorilla doesn't stand much of a chance.

Actually a grizzly is much larger than a gorilla. However, pound for pound the gorilla is ten times stronger and smarter than the grizzly. Also the hands and feet can be used just like a human's. According to Wikipedia, the grizzly are usually around 1000 pounds and 8 feet tall, while the silver-back is around 200 pounds and 6 feet tall.

GORILLA:
Gorillas move around by knuckle-walking. Adult males range in height from 165-175 cm (5 ft 5 in-5 ft 9 in), and in weight from 140-200 kg (310-440 lb). Adult females are often half the size of a silverback, averaging about 140 cm (4 ft 7 in) tall and 100 kg (220 lb). Occasionally, a silverback of over 183 cm (6 feet) and 225 kg (500 lb) have been recorded in the wild. However, obese gorillas in captivity have reached a weight of 270 kg (600 lb).[4] Gorillas have a facial structure which is described as prognathous, that is, their mandible protrudes further out than the maxilla.

Gestation is 8½ months. There are typically 3 to 4 years between births. Infants stay with their mothers for 3-4 years. Females mature at 10–12 years (earlier in captivity); males 11–13 years. Lifespan is between 30–50 years. The Philadelphia Zoo's Massa set the longevity record of 54 years at the time of his death.[5]

Gorillas are mainly vegetarian, eating fruits, leaves, and shoots. Insects make up 1-2% of their diet. Due to their diet of plant life, gorillas often have bloated stomachs.[citation needed]

Almost all gorillas share the same blood type (B)[6] and, like humans, have individual finger prints.[7]
GRIZZLY BEAR:
The Grizzly Bear, sometimes called the Silvertip Bear, is a powerful brownish-yellow bear that lives in the uplands of western North America. It has traditionally been treated as a subspecies, Ursus arctos horribilis, of the brown bear living in North America.

Grizzly Bears reach weights of 180–680 kg (400–1,500 lb); the male is on average 1.8 times as heavy as the female, an example of sexual dimorphism. Their coloring ranges widely across geographic areas, from blond to deep brown or black. These differences, once attributed to subspeciation, are now thought to be primarily due to the different environments these bears inhabit, particularly with regard to diet and temperature.

The Grizzly has a large hump over the shoulders which is a muscle mass used to power the forelimbs in digging. The head is large and round with a concave facial profile. In spite of their massive size, these bears can run at speeds of up to 55 km/h (35 mph).

Normally a solitary nocturnally active animal, in coastal areas the Grizzly congregates alongside streams and rivers during the salmon spawn. Every other year females (called sows) produce one to four young (most commonly two) which are small and weigh only about 500 g (1 pound). Sows are very protective of their offspring.

Silver Back gorillas can maybe get stronger, but a Grizzly has sharper claws and probably has the better fighting ability.

Grizzly. A match between a herbivore and a much bigger predator or omnivore is not likely to be close.
