2.A small frictionless cart attached to the wall by a spring is pulled 10 cm back from its rest position and released at time t=0 to roll back and forth for 4 seconds. Its position at time t is s=1-10(cos)pi *t. What is the cart's max speed? WHen is the cart moving that fast? What is the magnitude of the acceleration then? (I got the answer 10pi=31.42cm/sec; t= .5 s, 1.5 s, 25s, 3.5s ; accel=0cm/sec^2, again please correct if wrong)

A fighter jet is launched from an aircraft carrier with the aid of its own engines and a steam-powered catapult. The thrust of its engines is 2.1 105 N. In being launched from rest it moves through a distance of 87 m and has a kinetic energy of 4.5 107 J at lift-off. What is the work done on the jet by the catapult?

I understand that there is very little oxygen at 29,000 feet above sea level so climbing without bottled oxygen is extremely difficult. My question is this, if you are climbing with oxygen supplies y is it so hard to reach the top. I have read books about it and viewd films and they state that even with oxygen, it takes many breaths to even make one step. I dont get it because during WWII, bobediers flew in unpressurized airplanes with prmitive oxygen supplement systems at altitudes of up to 30,000 ft and seemed to have a much easier time functioning in the planes as compared to mountaneers. Why is that?

I'm doing this chapter on heat reactions, enthalpies, etc. and I am absolutely confused. I've banged my head against the wall 21 times. I just don't understand it. Here's a question that is a good example of how all my other questions are. Could you not just give the answer, but show me how to do it? Thanks.

What is the final temperature, in degrees C, when 60.0 g of water at 80 degrees C is mixed with 40.0 g of water at 25 degrees C. The specific heat of water is 4.184 J/g x C.
a) 53 b) 58 c) 70 d) 35 e) 42

Thanks in advance
