A glider of mass 0.152 kg is moving to the right on a frictionless, horizontal air track with a speed of 0.820 m/s. It has a head-on collision with a glider 0.298 kg that is moving to the left with a speed of 2.25 m/s. Suppose the collision is elastic.

Find the magnitude of the final velocity of the 0.152 kg glider.

If spacetime is itself expanding at what rate does it expand?

Should we assume spacetime expands at the speed of light because it can? Or just enough to contain matter and energy so also must be the speed of light.

On a frictionless horizontal air table, puck A (with mass 0.371 kg) is moving toward puck B (with mass 0.251 kg), which is initially at rest. After the collision, puck A has velocity 0.121 m/s to the left, and puck B has velocity 0.652 m/s to the right.

What was the speed v_Ai of puck A before the collision?

Calculate DeltaK, the change in the total kinetic energy of the system that occurs during the collision.

I do not understand Descartes' Rule of Signs, so please help. I am not necessarily looking for the specific answer, but some direction on how to do these types of problems.

Use Descartes' Rule of Signs to determine how many positive and how many negative real zeros the polynomial can have. Then determine the possible total number of real zeros:

P(x) = 2x^3 - x^2 + 4x -7
and
P(x) = x^8 - x^5 + x^4 - x^3 + x^2 - x + 1

A woman wants to measure the height of a nearby tower. To this end, she places a 9ft pole in the shadow of the tower so that the shadow of the pole is exactly covered by the shadow of the tower. The distance between the pole and the tower is 168ft , and the pole casts a shadow that is 3.75 long. How tall is the tower? Round your answer to the nearest foot. (The figure below is not drawn to scale.)

I keep hearing this strange sound coming from the direction of one of our floor vents. It's only every few minutes or so, but it's a very short, high-pitched squeak. It sounds almost the same as when tennis shoes squeak on a gym floor. I've never heard a sound like that in this room before. I'm not afraid of bats, but I'm curious if that's what the sound could be.
