This is for math homework. I need to find an exact solution and then (if possible) use a calculator to find a numerical approximation to the solution.

Atoms - ok, they have protons, neutrons, and electrons - what are they made of?

Quarks? (I am guessing) ok, so what are quarks made of?

What is the fundamental particle? Or is there a fundamental particle - maybe it's energy - if so then everything is just energy and nothing is real because there is no matter.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Incase my question does not make sense, here is a detailed explanation: say I am at exactly sea level; the horizon is a certain distance away from me. Now if I elevate myself to an arbitarily higher altitude, the horizon will obviously shift futher back and my so call viewing sphere will increase. Now what I need is a function that defines this shift in horizon, in other words: the relationship between altitude from sea level and the distance of the horizon. Obviously we assume that there are no viewing restrictions like objects or fog.
