Since the President, head of the Repulican party, endorses a Senatorial candidate that admits to a 5 year affair, has the Republican party decided that power is more important than morals.

Is UK the political name of the union, and GB the physical name of the whole region?
If so, why two names? The United States is both the political and the physical name.
If not, please explain, thank you.

In which on our Dear Leader's say so... you can be arrested, locked up, denied a lawyer, denied the right the see the "evidence" against you and tortured to give evidence.

Fun?

Think it can't happen to you?
You're no Al Qaeda you say.
Think you're safe?

Prove you are not Al Qaeda the day the knock comes at the door a couple of weeks after you have, perhaps, sent some money to a nice sounding charity....
Hello Slaves......
I can't beleive you were manipulated into sacrificing the VERY freedoms you are so proud of. It's as if you never fought for your liberty and independence in the first place.

Go read your constitution and tell me how much of it still stands.

P.S. Dubya ain't leaving the WH. He knows you don't have the balls to kick him out. Should we start calling him Shah W ?

AFTER they happened? Seriously, who cares when, isn't the fact that they HAPPENED more important than the timing? Or is complaining about the timing a way to avoid dealing with the REAL issues? I'd lump democratic scandals in there, but I can only find one, and it was really boring...

Are people on here so unintelligent that they think there are only two sides to each issue?

Why can't I be a Republican or conservative and criticize Bush?

It's ironic, because I do support some conservative policies. I simply think Bush and the Republican party are idiots.

In case you are unaware, Habeas Corpus means "a writ requiring a person to be brought before a judge or court, esp. for investigation of a restraint of the person's liberty, used as a protection against illegal imprisonment" according to Dictionary.com. It is a right that has been around since the Magna Carta in 1215. It is a foundation of American law.

We've never suspended the right of Habeas Corpus before.

What gives Bush the right to suspend it now and violate the law and precedents of the United States and the English common law off which it was based?

Obviously we're not accountable to English common law; I simply added that to point out that we have had this tradition before America was even a country.

This seems completely contrary to the nature of America and its freedoms.

If it involves dogs, thumbscrews, submersion, or things of those nature then I am, by all means, opposed to it.

If it involves loud music (within reason), warmer or cooler rooms (again within reason), or things that are not truly torturous then, why not?

I have heard both arguments and I am inclined to believe that aspects of both are true.

It also seems like if they have to have secret CIA camps (which have been formally acknowledge by Bush) then the actions taking place at those locations cannot be very legitimate.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this subject, preferably with a reputable source that they can reference?

I apologize for the repost, but since Answers went down for awhile, I'm not sure that anyone actually saw this question. Here it is again.

How does this man sleep at night knowing that he is responsible for sending thousands of soldiers to Iraq and Afghanistan and refusing to see what is going on there? What amazes me is that he is prepared to veto stem cell research and save a few cells, but has no problem sending fully grown adults to possible death.
He and the Republicans try to instil fear into the American people at every opportunity to hold onto power. Do you think it is working?

Teddy Kennedy, while driving a car out of his mind on booze and God knows what else, drove his car into a body of water. He left the scene of the accident, leaving his passenger Mary Jo Kopecne to die. If this were anyone else, they would have spent many years in prison and would have been thrown out of the senate. Teddy though, having more money than God, kept his job, continues to be re-elected and got away with murder. Funny how the Dems don't like to talk about this. Mark Foley, even though I condemn his actions and support his being thrown out of office, at least didn't kill anyone.

When the Reps reclaimed Congress- the ensuing panic of the Clinton admin transformed your party into a ‘win at all costs’ corrupt facist assemblage. By the end of 1998-your party was no longer recognizable. Lieberman and Moynihan spoke words of outrage during Clinton’s impeachment but in the end, they defended party over principle. Everyone knows it. History will show it. They let one man's behavior compromise the integrity of your party. We were told that lying under oath didn't "rise to the level of an impeachable offense." Where were the questions, "Have you no shame, sir?" Or "Ask not what your country can do for you..” or "Judged not by the color of skin but by the content of character. ..." These were words that once inspired the Democratic party. Why do you cowardly accept their Socialist tactics? Real Democrats who stand by and watch are as guilty as the actual leaders of this corruption. Lieberman seems to have come to his senses --Are there no other moderates left?
