W sent them there because those countries posed a threat. Had he not and they had lodged another attack everyone would be bitching about how W did nothing. He sleeps well at night knowing that he did what is best for this country. I can sleep better knowing a man like Saddam is no longer free.
Furthermore, you can't compare stem cell and soldiers. The soldiers serving our country signed up for their tour of duty. Stem cell involves the killing of living cells that are in all reality babies. Those babies did not ask for that "tour of duty" to death. Soldier made an educated decision, no one gives the babies that chance.
As far as the Republicans installing fear. They don't have to, watch the news. We should be scared. This world is falling apart and that is not a Republican or a Democrats fault
Before you go and bash my answer remember this is just my opinion, which is still allowed in this country :)

It would be a fresh experience if you had any facts right at all. Pres. Bush is actually supporting stem cell research. He is very much aware of the situations in Iraq and in Afghanistan. He is constantly updated, requires reports, has been there. If he doesn't sleep at night it is because of the great empathy he feels for those who have lost loved ones and the great distress he feels over citizens of the US that have forgotten how to be Americans. He is trying to instill in you a sense of pride at being American; a sense of responsibility to share the great opportunities and freedoms you enjoy with people through out the world; a sense of security because he has put forth measures to protect you from terrorism both in and out of the US. Perhaps he would sleep better if just once you counted your blessings and said thank you.

Same way President George Washington, President James Madison, President Woodrow Wilson, President F D Roosevelt,
President Johnson, President Clinton & etc. slept.
War is unfortunately a neccessary evil to stay free.
Stem cells & war is apple & oranges - no way to answer something with nothing in common.
I have no fear & the only one trying to instill fear are people like you trying to convince us that there is no hope to win in Iraq & Afghanistan. My son is a US Army Ranger & Officer & he said the only we we will lose is for the American people to lose faith in the military & America. I come from a family tradition of supporting the USA. It is not working on me.

You don't understand the mechanics of it.
The "axis of evil" is really the last bastion of independent state that dont' obey the New World Order Scheme.
The elites must subdue them to consolidate power. That is what is happening.
A few thousand soldiers is nothing compared to world domination and the supposed return to "eden".
Edit--
You don't know? Really? Then you're not qualified to state political opinions. You sound like just another parrot re-hashing what he / she's heard:
"Bill Mahar says George Bush is bad, so I'll sound smart if I say what he said"
There's far more here than meets the eye. Think independently. This is more than a left vs right issue.

How does he sleep? Ask on a medical site, this is politics.
You should try to get a few facts. Bush is not threatening to veto stem cell research. He is threatening to veto federal funding of human embryonic stem cell research. Funding will continue on adult stem cell research which so far has proved to be far more useful. I know people who have been cured with adult stem cells. To the best of my knowledge, there hasn't been a single successful treatment using embryonic stem cells.
This doesn't mean that research with embrionic stem cells shouldn't be done, but I think that, given finite resources, we should concentrate on the path that has proved to be usefull.

Good question. Even if what he was doing was right, it is still puzzling how, according to Laura anyway, he sleeps like a baby.
Bush obviously really does believe that he is on a mission from God – and that is truly frightening. He may well be insane. Hopefully, America can hang on long enough for him and the traitorous conservative scum he represents is finally removed from office.
You have to believe that no group will be happier to see Bush leave office than moderate Republicans. They will finally be able to reclaim their party and send Frist, Hastert, and the rest of the neo-Nazi gang to the woodshed.

When you have no conscience, sleep is no problem. I do agree the current administration works very hard to instill fear into as many people as possible. If you ever notice, right before every major holiday, they will always come on the news to tell of a new terror threat, and be vigilant, and raise the threat level. Then when nothing happens, they say, see what we've protected you against? It's all nonsense.

at the starting up, a minimum of one/2 a million Iraqi civilians have died contained in the warfare. They, alongside with are infantrymen, were no longer shot and killed through George Bush, yet through insurgents and terrorists. maximum infantrymen comprehend what it skill to be contained in the protection stress and were completely prepared to bypass to warfare even as deemed necessary through the country. the country stumbled on it necessary to bypass to warfare, Congress allowed it to ensue. yet now each and every man or woman has grew to develop into hostile to the warfare, notwithstanding the President had to placed the warfare till now his recognition rankings with the aid of the undeniable fact that's the way you win wars.

he does not sleep at night, he sleeps during the day. hangs upside down from a branch, or lies naked in his skull and bones coffin awaiting the passing of day.
not only has every president sent our boys off to an unjustifiable war, they do so through misinformation, destabilization and state terror to instill fear and loathing of "them" against "us".
what is more, when they say the WTC 9/11 is another Pearl Harbour, they mean, it was an inside job to justfiy going to war to make those with money have more of it.
