"We falsely think of our country as a democracy when it has evolved into a media-ocracy, where our media, which is supposed to check political abuse, is part of political abuse."
-Danny Schechter, former CNN and ABC news producer

"[The media] is not a healthy counterweight to government, they are as big as or bigger than the government, and they work closely with the government." -Mark Crispin Miller, Professor of Media Studies at New York University

"The most powerful special interests in washington today is the media, because not only do they give money and lobby, and do all the things that industries do in washington, but they control whether or not a politician's mug gets on the tube. Now that is power. That is the ultimate power in a political realm, controlling perceptions." -Charles Lewis, former "60 minutes" producer

The media is not like other industries. It MUST be regulated, in order to ensure a FREE PRESS. Why is the FCC relaxing anti-trust laws?

"President Bush is pursuing a globalist agenda to create a North American Union, effectively erasing our borders with both Mexico and Canada. This was the hidden agenda behind the Bush administration's true open borders policy."

Is it out of fear, need for attention or is it just because they are deliberately trying to be stupid to get more funding for our public school systems?

I personally think it is very possible that many content providers would opt to end most political programming rather than deal with the hassles of trying to present a completely balanced format. What do you think?

I'm not looking for a political debate, I just heard someone at work say it and thought it was curious. If you have any sites with articles, etc, please provide them as well.

Our Government is planning something terrible.

You thought 9/11 was bad

I fear for this Country before the 2008 elections.

Our Government is going to try to instill more fear on us with terror and they are going to stage another attack on us before Bush has to leave!

Martial Law will be the final nail in our coffins.

The closer we get to the 2008 elections, the quicker Iran steps up their nuclear production.
Coincidence - I don't think so. I will bet you we or Israel will attack Iran before August and we will be forced through propaganda into a war.

Then they will stage the attack saying it was retaliation for attacking Iran.

Get ready America - the worst is coming and before next year.

Not much time to prepare.

Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance

Stay alive - get your iodine pills quickly.

California - maybe Chicago - God forbid it happens to New York again

Call me crazy, but there are many of you who will know it is possible.

Wouldn't that be true freedom? Why can't we have more choice? Don't you trust the American people to make the best choice's The system we have now is restrictive and not true freedom.

It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a problem in having "In God! We Trust" on our money and having "God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. Shouldn't we just tell the 14% to Shut Up ?

Do you believe everything that was done to the Palestinians is ok, in oder for there to be an Israeli state? I don't want to hear any arguments about what's in the bible. I want unbiased answers. I'm sure if it stated in the bible that I can come steal your house from you, that you wouldn't agree to that.

From that bastion of unbiased "reporting", the Associated Press:

"The legislation would require ethanol production for motor fuels to grow to at least 36 billion gallons a year by 2022, a sevenfold increase over the amount of ethanol processed last year.

It calls for boosting auto fuel economy to a fleet average of 35 MPG by 2020, a 40% increase over current requirements for cars, SUVs, vans & pickup trucks.

The legislation also calls for:

Price gouging provisions that make it unlawful to charge an 'unconscionably excessive' price for oil products, including gasoline."

Gee, a few questions come to mind:

1 - How much more will YOU be willing to pay for food as more and more of the nation's agricultural capacity goes to producing corn for ethanol?

2 - Wow - 35 MPG by 2020; now THAT'S a great victory, Harry!

3 - After bazillions of Senate "investigations" why have The Evil Oil Companies NEVER been shown to have engaged in "price-gouging" or "market manipulation"?
