Definitions vary, but a failed state is usually thought of as one where any government has broken down to the point where it can no longer provide any services to the people. Most importantly, this means that law and order has collapsed, with the government losing its monopoly over the legitimate use of force. Often large areas of the country are in the control of non-government forces, perhaps through civil war but often as a result of lawlessness and banditry. Recent estimates by Foreign Policy and the Fund for Peace (see web links) suggest that up to 2 billion people worldwide live in insecure states where government has either failed or is fragile, and are exposed to varying degrees of violence as a result.
The most complete example of a failed state is perhaps Somalia, where no government has been able to take effective control of the country since the death fifteen years ago of Siad Barre, its dictator.

and maybe do a little research, or ask a few questions of their leaders (both democrat, and republican)

When you cannot question your own country, and it's system of government, then you have become a slave.

I saw TV in which President Bush said, “Look, our strategy is to create chaos, to create a vacuum.” What does "create a vacuume" mean? Does that mean literally "a space that is completely empty of all substances"? Or does that mean the U.S. is going to withdraw from Irap? Or Is that metaphor for something? From a Japanese girl

Why is it that we are so quick to jump all over someones case if we disagree with anything that our president has done? I personally agree with this war but I do know others whom do not exactly see things in the same light that I do and to me that is ok. We are americans and full of different cultures, views, and opinions. To me that is what makes this country that we are so proud of special because we are actually free to see things in all different points of view. My opinion is no more important as Joe Blow down the streets opinion. I may not always agree with my governments decisions but that in no way means that Im an anti american nor does it mean that my nieghbor who disagrees with the war is for not backing it. As long as they still support our troops I say that they have every right to feel however they feel about any issue. Don't you? Because if you don't they you might want to rethink how much of an american you are by trying to persuade everyone to think the same as you do.

this is a serious question, most people epouse a great love of freedom yet fail to recognise that the very system in which they live is not one of freedom. A man who produces while another disposes of that product is a slave... all of our production is to a great measure being disposed of by others who believe that they are better situated to decide how we should spend our money... so we who are not wise enough to decide how to spend our own money are somehow wise enough to correctly choose those who claim that they are. virtually all aspects of your life are controlled... from where when and how your structures are to be built, what books you can read, what and how much you can produce, what you can charge for that product.. all the way down to the diameter of the pipe which carries your feces out of your house. Many will argue that these regulations are necessary, and need to be enforced by coercion, but who then are they trying to fool when they turn and say that we are free?

The attitude of threats, challenging world democracies, tieing with and supporting only Christian countries, insulting and suppressing our communities around the world.

In future, in case of problems, nobody will turn to help us because no empireship lasts long for so much period if we go through the history.

it seems almost like a religion...and if you don't follow their "faith" they cut you down like a religious extremist would...why do they want people to depend on them to think for them...look at poor fox news...it doesn't follow the norm of bashing everything this country does...and liberals hate that channel...why the brain washing...they are a religios cult now a days in my opinion
