Which of the 2008 presidential candidates are for universal free health care (read: social medicine)? The United State's system is beyond broken. I think this has become my number one issue these days...

As an added bonues, if I could find a candidate whose views line up with some of my others, that would be great. Are there any that want social medicine, are ANTI-GUN CONTROL (pro-2nd ammendment), and ANTI-IRAQ WAR? Thanks!

okay, here me out. should we make voters take a test with questions such as "where does 'so and so' stand on immigration?" and "which candidates voted against authorizing the Iraq war?", etc.
this way you're only allowed to vote if you know what youre voting for and where candidates stand on the issues and have a general idea of their voting record, etc.
I think that would give much better election results because only educated votes would count instead of the vast amounts of "guess" votes that cause people like Bush and Cheney to be elected.

Who came in 2nd place in the Republican primary in 2004? I can't remember anybody running against Bush in that election. Please post the link if you find the answer.

i know a lot of people who hardly know anything about any of the candidates and are still planning on voting without researching the candidates 1st, or watching any debates. I know them all really well, but if i didn't, i wouldn't vote. I think its my responsibility (even though my vote doesnt really matter) that if im not convinced of who would be the best president, then i shouldnt just guess and risk causing some psycho to become president. dont you think that it would be better to not vote if you dont know anything about what youre voting for?

This is one of the largest commitments this country has at present - yet John Howard has not one word to say about it - no exit strategy, no plan for peace. Why not?

does anyone really want clinton and bush another 6 years combined. if hillary wins this one she will get a 2nd term. then jeb bush will run in 2016 and assuming that jeb is elected 2 terms we could have a clinton bush rule all the way through 2024. does anyone really want this? i don't. let's break the cycle now and save our country.

I keep seeing all these "Worst president ever" questions, and frankly, I think the Republicans completely saved this guy from being much worse than Carter. Anyone else agree/disagree?

It bugs me that people vote by party. I know that most of the time the person that you agree with most is in your party... but do you even look at the people in the other party? most people probably do buy my grandparents (both of differing parties) don't...

i suppose it could be because i am independant... but what is your view on this? am i the only one bugged by this? do you do this? (don't worry... you aren't bad if you do this.. but just as a poll.. do you do this?)

I am a negotiator in the firm of Lester D.K.Chow and Associates. In 1990, we successfully secured Saddam's agreement to withdraw from Kuwait. Much much later, we tried to ask John Edwards as to his position on Iraq. He wouldn't answer. From what we can privately determine, he doesn't give a (blank) about the lives of the people of Iraq, if a million or so die "So, what!" was the implied response.

Sometimes, political candidates say things privately and not publicly. What a candidate feels deep in his heart or says tell us people what the man is made of and the kind of person he would be as President.

Some Democrats are two faced with the voting public. Other candidates are open and express their dismay and anger at terrorist (people fighting to defend their homelands from American aggression).

I like snnoogles would like to see a good person become the next US President.

John Edwards may fool some people, but I see him as being a hypocrite and a weasel! Especially, on Iraq.

I really think supporters of all three should rally to Ron Paul, he's obviously doing better and we need all the votes in the primaries to push him through.

WASHINGTON -- Democrat Barack Obama said Sunday that if elected he will push to increase the amount of income that is taxed to provide monthly Social Security benefits.

Obama and other Democratic presidential candidates previously have signaled support for this idea.

But during an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press," Obama said subjecting more of a person's income to the payroll tax is the option he would push for if elected president.

He objected to benefit cuts or a higher retirement age.

"I think the best way to approach this is to adjust the cap on the payroll tax so that people like myself are paying a little bit more and people who are in need are protected," the Illinois senator said.

"That is the option that I will be pushing forward."

Currently, only the first $97,500 of a person's annual income is taxed. The amount is scheduled to rise to $102,000 next year.

Obama's proposal could include a gap or "doughnut hole" to shield middle-income earners from paying more in t
