We've got over 3,000 dead in a four year quagmire that this administration chooses to call the slaughter "the war on terror." The oil companies raise gas prices on nothing more than seeing a cloud in the sky! And yet some junior journalism moron can't think of anything better to ask a presidential candidate than the cost of GROCERIES??

And how come major issues such as the economy, health and education get so little attention in comparison? I'm not saying that abortion and gay marriage should not be discussed in elections. They are not insignificant, but in comparison to the above, they are very MINOR issues that just seem to be fashionable at the moment. They don't even affect 95% of the population, and the 5% that they DO apply to, have much bigger worries anyhow, such as how to make ends meets etc. Why do people worry so much about these issues and ignore the big issues that their very survival depends upon?

Maryland is poised to become the first state to approve giving its electoral votes for president to the winner of the national popular vote, rather than to the candidate chosen by state voters.
The plan, passed Monday by the state House, would take effect only if states representing a majority of the nation's 538 electoral votes adopted the same change.

Some states are considering the move as a way to avoid a scenario in which a candidate wins the national popular vote but loses in the Electoral College, as Democrat Al Gore lost to George W. Bush in 2000.

We're around three weeks away from the Scottish Parliamentary and Local Authority elections and I have seen and heard NOTHING on TV or radio, and precious little in newspapers about this. The vast majority of people don't even know it will be different - radically different. Is this a deliberate strategy by Labour to minimise impact or lower turnout and participation? Might it backfire in the long run, creating resentment, confusion and spoiled ballot papers?

For info: In LA elections, candidates will now be ranked in the voter's order of preference - if there are 7 candidates there you can rank them 1,2,3... up to 7, if you wish.

In the Parliamentary election you will have two votes, made with a cross - one for your constituency MSP, one for your Regional choice (who may be the same or different).

For governor, doesn't the candidate actually have to reside in the state he/she is running? For example, John Breaux is entering the governor's race in Louisiana even though he resides in Maryland and doesn't even have a Louisiana license. He hasn't lived in Louisiana for many years as well. Can someone please explain this to me??
