Our teacher sponsor for prom recently quit out of frustration with the officers' constant bickering with the students and each other over the prom theme, DJ, location, fundraising, the price...Currently, senior dues are $240 total, which includes senior activities at the end of the year, but also depends on $2000 in fundraising (an optimistic figure). Each homeroom has two representatives, but hardly any of them show up to meetings. People are spending far too much time blaming everything on everybody else and not trying to come up with better ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I could approach the committee and tell them some of my ideas? Do you think I should talk to my representatives and offer to take their position, since neither one of them cares enough to show up to or speak up in meetings? I have a lot of good ideas, but they're not being heard in the current setup. I want prom this year to be fun, drama-free, and let everyone have a say in how it will happen.

the only reason I can think of is if the system is illegitimate or if it's is physically life threatening to go cast a ballot. For those fortunate enough to live in a 'free world'.

Why the heck would you not?

It's the only way to decide how much of the money you get to keep after a day's work...

Assuming that the election system hasn't been hijacked and is legitimate, do you think making it a law will improve our society?

I know many brilliant people who are just too apathetic to vote. Do radicals rely on people's apathy to infiltrate the Congress/Parliament (wherever you are from)?

I have lived in NYC for one year now exactly. 10/12 was the deadlines to change party. I have not voted since 2000 in Indiana for Al Gore. I want to vote as a republican in 2008. Can I still? I don't believe IN had me choose party affiliation - you could vote for whoever, so there is no true party affiliation on my part. Can I register anew as a Republican here in NYC? I can't find this issue anywhere in the website. Help!

I just posted this Q and everyone who answered agreed and there was some really good answers, but it got removed twice and this is what i had...Most Americans are morons or ignorant... the 300,000 richest people make more than the next 150million combined and no one sees anything wrong with it, the rich get richer b/c the gov. caters to them not the majority... we are in a war for a false reason (weapons of mass destruction, not in Iraq, never was) we are the bad guys...every one (almost) is against the war and it is a drain on our economy 6.5 billion a month when the money could be spent here like on universal health care where 45.8 million go without it, but nothing is done.... and the only thing we can do is vote, but people vote for the person who is on TV etc. the most, not the one who could actually help us. Why

The sacred high council (all three dues paying members) meeting in the inner cave have approved the following offer. Application fees to join the new order of truly, truly religious freaks, will be waved for all members of the Republican Party currently being held in Federal facilities.
However under the circumstances of your current environment, our offer to send you a free packet of holy Clinton doll needles must be delayed until such time as you are released, pardoned or paroled.

This question is the same for people who believe in and don't believe in manmade Global Warming.
If Global Warming is not caused by Humans, why would people make it up?

Who benefits if Global Warming is a scam?

I don't want any scientific analyses of Global Warming. Weather (pun intended) you believe in GW or not isn't the question.

If you believe in GW, just be speculative.
If you don't believe in GW, explain why anyone would make it up.

I see a need in the city in which I reside to make a difference. My ideas are what some would consider over the top or extreme because they fall out of the realm of anything the city in which I reside has ever done. I have lived in other cities in which these ideas have worked very well, and as a result I know they can work here as well.
So my question is how do I become the person that is powerful enough to be listened to? You know, the guy who is everyones friend and can get anything done because he knows everyone. I would like to eventually run for mayor, but i have neither the money, nor the social status to do so. how does one rise from the ranks of citizen to valued member of the community, and then possibly to mayor?

In the age of rampant sonsumerism and materialism in today's world, political participation (outside of just voting) is on the slide.

So how politically active are you? Do you write letters to your local council, do you participate in protests against the Bush ad....I mean government (any government)!, do you discuss politics with freinds and colleagues? how politically active are you?

...over informed knowledge of their representatives and senators agendas and insisting they stop all their bullsh*t and
do what we tell them we want done.
They no longer work for the nation's interests, they work for lobbyists and perverts(you know who..swish) illegals and communists(China). The senate has ratified treaties that open our borders and thusly our security to those that want to destroy America. They're taxing the crap out of us to fund the assimilation of criminal illegal aliens....We need to stop this and do it godda*n fast,or there won't be anything to salvage.
