They're too busy playing XBox, Halo and listening to their ipods. The problem is that we have too many diversions, too many luxururies and too much debt to care about anyone but ourselves. I have spent a lot of time with younger people and that's where their heads are at. At that age in my day we didn't have as many diversions and paid more attention to what was going on in the world - plus, the draft lit a fire under everyone's butts to do something to change the course of the war or it meant they would be over there fighting as well. I guarantee, if the draft were reinstated you'd see one heck of an outcry from this country - both old and young alike - especially since most people do not support this war anymore.

because most of Gen X was raised in the "me Generation" and don't think about anyone but themselves. Each one thinks they are somehow special, their child is gifted and they are owed more than everyone else. it wouldn't occur to most of them to put down the iPod or the remote or get out of the SUV long enough to protest or even write a check to help someone else. as long as there is war in Iraq, they know they can get gas for their smogasaurus SUVs and heating oil for their McMansions...they don't care about anything beyond that.

Actually, as a matter of fact, there has been a lot more protest of the War on Iraqis than at comparable stages of the Vietnam War.

There are protesters, they just don't get a lot of press.

Honestly - a lot of folks are jaded and don't feel that they're really make a difference. Both political parties are in it for the cash and their lobbies, be it big oil or whatever. Combine that with a president that doesn't seem to care what his people think...

Seems that these days the younger population cares only for $$$ -- soo iam not surprised to hear such things
And one more thing - Do u think that the younger population cares about politics -first of all i would say they don't know who's their president and asking them to protest about the war in Iraq
That's the reality what can u do

They're too damned busy downloading songs to their iPods. In other words, people today are too damned selfish.

BTW, the American president is leading the country down the toilet into perpetual war and everlasting debt.

Mostly because it's a volunteer armed forces. In the 60's there was a draft & you either served or were jailed. that's why some ran away to Canada. If a draft is initiated again, you will see a revolt.

Because back then they had a draft. If we go to war w/ Iran they will bring the draft back for sure. Watch the streets erupt then! Seriously that guy at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. has no idea what he's getting his party into!

The youth wanted that terrorism be curtailed and it is the reason why they are not opposing the Iraq war.
