Global Warming is a scare tactic used by the left to control you…control what you can buy, what you can drive, and thus taxing you extra when you decide to not buy what they want you to buy.
If anybody truly believes Al Gore's propaganda film, they should be ashamed of themselves. Do the research yourself and be objective when doing your research. Once you have seen both sides of the argument, you will find that mankind has almost zero affect on the global temperature increase.
Oh, and don't believe what you hear about a consensus of scientists who believe in Global Warming. Fact is, over 50% of credible scientist agree that man is a very small part of the Global "Climate change" equation.
I will be laughing at all of you Global Warming advocates 20 years from now just like my parents and Grandparents were laughing and the "Global Cooling" advocates of the 70's

I believe the people that would benefit from global warming theory the most are two groups:
The obvious would be the environmental conspirators and their lackeys. Al Gore is the most prominent example. He gets to sell books and people listen to him when he speaks. Today he is showered with formally prestigious awards when just a few years ago he was done. The are little Al Gores too, people who sell "green goods" or teach Eco friendly classes.
The other groups are the socialists. They are on record as saying that the Kyoto Protocols are as much about leveling the playing field as it is about the environment. If they were truly alarmed about global warming the protocols would apply to India and China, not just the US.
Global warming is a great way to control the other guys behavior. It has a religious power to it; one that you cannot dare question. It is very similar to Christianity of a few years ago.
I do not want to grant anyone unrestrained power.

Look at all the money and fame Al Gore has gotten. For many people greed for both fame and money is more than enough reason to make up anything and many things are made up for these reasons. If it is not made up and really a man made problem why would we not do everything we could to force China and India who both pollute more than any other country to cut back, why would people that are trying to convince us that it exists at all or better yet that it is a man made problem have houses that use more electricity than the average peson uses in an entire month or fly around in a jet plane that produces more pollutants in an hour than a 757 does in a trans-atlantic flight. If Al gore or anyone else want to prove it exists at all or that it is man made than they need to lead by example, and carbon credits is more bogus than their supposed man made Global Warming. giving money to a group that tries to reduce polution or that condemns polution does not make it right to create more polution. Also if people believe so much in science then look at what this country has been through in the time it has existed, Mother Earth will not allow us to destroy it and will make sure we are gone before we do too much damage.

I've had a lot of discussions about this in the Y!A Environment and Politics sections, so I can sum up the bizarre theories for you.
Some people focus on Al Gore (as you see in the answers here) as though he's singlehandedly creating the supposed global warming hoax all by himself. This is simply absurd, so I won't bother to address it.
In order for global warming not to be caused by humans, virtually every climate scientist on Earth would have to be in on a giant hoax, because they're the ones who have been saying we're responsible. Al Gore is not a scientist - he gets his information from scientists.
So for those with a further developed conspiracy theory, some say that scientists have created this hoax to get rich. Since scientists don't get rich (unless perhaps they create a great invention and patent it), this is simply an ignorant theory.
Others believe that scientists created the hoax to ensure that they have easy access to grant money. This is a slightly more plausible theory, since scientists do have to apply for grants in order to get money to do research, and it's easier to get a grant if you're studying an important issue as global warming has become.
However, that's simply not how science works. Scientists constantly check up on eachother's work (you can't get published without your research being peer-reviewed), so you would need thousands of scientists to all be in on the hoax together. It's the job of a scientist to be honest, impartial, and biased, so to think that 99% of scientists would suddenly become corrupt liars just to make getting funding a little bit easier is completely stupid.
Anyone who thinks that global warming is a big hoax should have a convention together with the guys who think the moon landing was faked and that there are aliens at Area 51.

Global warming is a scam.
It means money for those that foist this scam on a gullible public, 15 minutes of fame for those that perpetuate the lie, and a Liberal feel-good-hug-a-tree high for those that actually believe it's true. It's religion not science.
As to why - open your eyes. Environmentalists have tried for years to return man back to the stone age. They'd be perfectly happy if we all lived in caves but the environment - hooray - was saved!!! Global Warming is a perfect vehicle to get them there. Now every environmental goofy loon whacky idea can gain cover from the Global Warming propaganda umbrella. After all these years of crap they finally hooked onto a marketing scheme that works.
Are you old enough to remember that not 30 years ago these same lunatics were telling us we'd be freezing to death by the end of the 21st Century? Yep - a Global Ice Age was the disaster du jour then! Now it's Global Warming - ha. What a load of crap.
Global Warming = Big Lie.

What a bunch of babbling nonsense in all the answers. Whether, (no pun), you like it or not, whether is caused by humans or not, GW is here. If non believers want to bury their heads in the sand and ignore Katrina and the California fires that's their problem. Its obvious that "mother earth" tranforms it doesn't destroys, and she would shakes us like a bad case of fleas, but that doesn't mean, that we as humans, will suffer painful consequences for this transformation, ergo, the disasters I mentioned before. Add to that the hottest fall, (sept & Oct), in recent History. Anyway, go ahead keep living life as business as usual, worry about the importants things, like if Obama wears a lapel pin or not. Worry about Britney's lips, if she did the surgery or not. Stop those phaggots for getting married, that's really "Hurting" the nation and when your skin starts to peal off and your grandchildren are born with deformities and you can't even stay inside your house because is so hot that all energy just collapsed, then you would accept GW...what am I talking about...you probably blame it on Hillary...
Sad sad sad people

the folk promoting global warming have an agenda that they want the rest of us to either follow or agree to. The rest of us simply want to be left alone.
Thus, what they might get is their beliefs running things. Who knows?, they might even get to be the people in power.

The mind is an amazing thing -- in the absense of verifiable hard facts, it is perfectly capable of coming to very powerfully held opinions and treating them as facts despite significant evidence to the contrary.
Las Vegas and Atlantic City are full of casinos that illustrate this principle every day. Hope and faith are big business.
Even when they're statistically, provably wrong.
***
Humans did not create the Universe and we are not running it. Global Warming caused by humans? What incredible hubris. What unbelievable egotism we must have to even contemplate the possibility.

How much does Al Gore receive for each speaking engagement. How much airtime do people get to promote their books on TV. It is all about money. I do beleive man plays a very small part in the warming trend but we also know our planet goes through cycles and there is nothing we can do to stop it.
Even Al doesnt beleive it seeing as he has one of the biggest energy consuming private homes in his state. And for who. He and Tipper. Does he fly commercial flights. No he uses the extra fuel, and creates more pollution.

Al Gore is in it for the money. The so called scientists are all bellied up to the government trough. They have to made this stuff up to keep getting government grants. Without those grants, they would have to get real jobs.

Guilt and Greed. Some people feel guilty that we in the U.S. and other "developed" nations have so much. How do you fool people to give up their wealth and property by inventing a crisis that requires them to sacrifice that property. The libs like Gore and others don't feel guilty enough to give up their lifestyle of Jets and SUVs so they need you to give up yours to make them feel better about being rich.
Next is Greed. Greed propels Al Gore to keep his polluting Copper mine and just pay the fines. Greed propels him to write books for profit and to set up "carbon credits" business to also profit. You want a great business idea "carbon credits" is unregulated and nebulous enough to claim anything. A pill that makes cow fart less and you spend millions trying to develop. Wow what a scam Gore's got.
The Ten year clock Al Gore gave us has ticked away to 8 years 2 months already.
And in conclusion all I can say is "DON'T TAZE ME BRO"
