that german woman who hacked off her dead husband's penis and put it in a pickle jar? Apparently because she wanted to keep it to treasure, as it gave her so much pleasure in their time together, and its 'what he would have wanted her to do'.

What would you treasure of your partner's (and it doesn't have to be a part of their anatomy)?

Most of the documentaries and things that were in TV yesterday about september 11 were funded by the american government, many were also following the "official" story, Just found it interesting!

There are several on my short list, but I personally respect Charlie Rose the most. He always seems most interested in whom he interviews with integrity to the truth and with a believable genuiness to his charachter that few others have.

I didn't think there was anyone in TV news who has the balls to tell the truth about the president.
Did anyone else see that?

The Path to 9/11 Could Kill ABC License to Broadcast
Posted Friday, Sep 8th, 2006

Washington, DC — The Senate Democratic Leadership has sent the following letter to Disney President and CEO Robert Iger, urging him to cancel the grossly inaccurate upcoming miniseries The Path to 9/11... (see website)
-----------------------

Miniseries suggests fiction, so why the uproar?

While I agree the use of this miniseries to educate our youth is a concern, perhaps it is being used to inspire discussion and research, not claim certain events are factual.

The obligation of the media boils own to public interest. Unfortunately, I think private interest intervenes more often than not, leaving us to wonder what is fact and what is fiction.

1) Do all governments control media?
2) If not, what examples can we learn from?

i think that is very heartless of you to even say something like that, especially today of all days. my father died in 2001 (not 9/11, but earlier in that year) and every time the anniversary of his death comes around i still get sad and cry, that is just me, one sad story for just me and my family, but for something this large, a national tragedy, something that thousands of people have mourned, and having our lived forever changed (in even the smallest ways, like airport security, or armed national guardsmen around more), for you to just say get over it, that is just completely inhumane...if you have no more hurt feelings or sorrow over this date, and what this date symbolizes then that is you, just don't expect other people (our nation) to get over it just as easily.

what do you think, should we as a nation just push something like this to the backburner? or should we honor those lost, by remembering this day?

Why do we have to keep retraumatizing ourselves by seeing the World Trade Center collapse over and over again? Does anyone think that rehashing these events is excessive ?

does media in america teach people how to become afraid? haven't you notice that what they mostly show in the news every single day is something bad. like someone got killed, rapped, slaughter..etc. for example.. canada! they don't show all that crap as much as they show it here. most of the people aren't afraid to even leave their doors unlock.

when national/international airplanes were diverted to land outside of American air space with almost 40,000 people from the US & other countries stranded. As usual no American TV media is covering this story.
WHY DO AMERICAN MEDIA, esp. CNN IGNORE IMPORTANT NEWS EVENTS THAT OCCUR IN CANADA, YET HAVE NO PROBLEM PLASTERING NEG. OR WHAT THEY, (most often FOX NEWS) CONSIDER USA BASHING NEWS FROM CANADA?.......
I suppose ignorance is bliss?

I have to write a paper for my expository writing class and I need a topic. The topic has to have something to do with the media. Examples we read in class were: internet hate sites, spam, censorship of war photos. I cannot think of a good topic to write about. The paper only has to be 750 words, so I don't need a ton of information.
