I have to write a paper for my expository writing class and I need a topic. The topic has to have something to do with the media. Examples we read in class were: internet hate sites, spam, censorship of war photos. I cannot think of a good topic to write about. The paper only has to be 750 words, so I don't need a ton of information.

point and counter-point, do we really need to know all the information being put out by the media, on the war or what ever you choose, or were we better off as a nation when we knew less, about devistation of war, behind closed doors in the white house, etc

Do a little research on the deregulation of the media and relaxing the fcc rules, thereby allowing single companies to hold a larger market share. This deregulation has effectively squashed the little guy, leaving only 5 companies in chare of all of the information you recieve on a daily basis. No more independent media. Only corporate media. Big business is telling you what to think. Etc.

They are owned by corporations that have their own agendas or special interests. Example would be GE owns NBC. GE also builds bombs for the military. Hmm.

Look for a book called 'Weapons of Mass Deception'. It explains what is wrong with the media today. It is really good.
