I almost never watch 'star' shows or purchases entertainment magazines. I do have a passing interest in what shows and movies are being released and who is in them. But, as to who is sleeping with who... I don't care.

However, as much as the 'stars' say they hate the paparazzi, they also need them to sustain their status and worth in the industry. The agents, studios, and publicists also 'use' the paparazzi and feed stories to them to help promote upcoming projects and keep their client's names in the news. And, given the number of magazines, web sites, and TV shows dedicated to this subject, clearly there is a market.

The only way to stop it is to starve it. Until there is no longer a market for the information, there will always be paparazzi.

Although I didn't watch her debut, just from the hype I could tell the whole Katie Couric thing was going to be a canine & equine show. I noticed years ago that sensationalism started to dominate the big "3" (ACB, NBC, CBS) so I switched to CNN. Big mistake. YAWN. And their talk shows were always left leaning. They'd always have two people debating the liberal side and only one conservative. I put up with it only because the big 3's anchors were nothing but condescending. Then I got Fox News and while I find them to actually be close to being fair and balanced [on their talk shows they usually, not always, but usually have one liberal and one conservative] they don't hide the fact where they stand. They are more conservative leaning which doesn't bother me- they don't hide it like the others who claim to be 'fair' BUT they too have fallen to the sensationalistic style. Today's news is hyped way too much. Even the weather has become prey as they now recommend getting in the basement during a thunderstorm. My grandparents would laugh at the notion and sadly.... I have neighbors that do it.

Have a great day!!!
