Does media in the U.S. help cover up big things like bombings going on?

I.E. does media focus on something so little and stupid for our heads to turn their way while the govt. does something else behind our backs while our heads are turned?
If so, why?

Yes, the media helps by not questioning the government's pronouncements and lies. The government and the reporters have become too chummy and too separate from the American people.

The big media thinks they only need to give what they think people want to hear, instead of what they NEED to hear. The newsmedia doesn't realize that people want to hear important newsworthy stories and not just fluff to keep us entertained. They have websites: Tell the news organization to give us something important and not FLUFF. Instead of writing to Yahoo, send some letters to the media!

You are very observant. If you want to get real news anymore, Air America on the radio, (streaming online also) still has some stuff of substance. But the tv channels, cable and free--they have really begun to suck bottom. Even commentators I thought would provide controversial issues are now wasting their time talking about Hollywood. On tv, watch CSPAN, McNeil Leherer on PBS, sometimes Hardball on MSNBC, sometimes Scarborough Country, but always watch Keith Olbermann on MSNBC. And then for laughs, watch the Daily Show and the Colbert Report on the Comedy channel.

It was very nice of one poster in here to be sure and include all of the left leaning commentators. That is a sure way of getting accurate information, right???Mathews on hardball is eating crow nowadays because of a stand he took just a week ago.. If you want biased reporting, those listed are going to satisfy your needs.

YOu're kidding right? The media would love to pin Bush to the wall with anything they can get on him. Trust me if there is a conspiracy to keep us in the dark, it doesn't include the media helping the government.
