I could have sworn a lot of famous singers and actors said we are the world and we have to save these starving kids. The pictures would tear your heart out! Not that I fault a country for defending their homeland, but my taxes keep going up and we still have hungry and homeless here while these(supposed) poor who can't feed themselves are well equipped with modern weapons of warfare on what seems to me to be money I sent to feed their starving children. I know this is not the typical question you expect to see here but am I the only citizen who feels this way ? Does anyone else see this as an OUTRAGE? The US government says we as Americans need to do more as we continue to send our sons and daughters off to die? I am extremely patriotic and served my country as do my children now, but can't seem to wonder if this is serving my country and protecting my fellow citizens or protecting the political interest of a government thats raises doubt of FOR the people and by the people in ? admin.

Ok, why do you want him dead? He's going to be hanged for killing Shiites, so what? Most Americans hate all the people from the middle east, so why do you care about the Shiites? He's not responsible for what happened on 9/11, it was Osama Bin Laden.

it has been reported on yahoo! news that the number of US troops that have been killed as a result of this so-called war on terror has far exceeded the total number of americans that were brutally attacked on september 11, 5 years ago.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The deaths of six more American soldiers in Iraq pushed the U.S. death toll to at least 2,978 -- five more than the number killed in the September 11 attacks -- as bombs killed more than 20 people in Baghdad on Tuesday.

At least 89 U.S. soldiers have died so far this month, making it the deadliest this year after October's toll of 106, and adding pressure on President George W. Bush to find a strategy to extricate 135,000 US troops from the messy war.

the question i wanted to ask is whether this latest statistic coming out of iraq is a fair and legitimate assessment of the iraq war so far. what will be of bush and blair's legacy in all of this? how worse can it get come into the new year? & what do you make of this current crisis?

The reason I ask this is because if he is hanged in January, he will become a martyer and a martyer cannot be killed. However if you imprison him and deny him martyrdom, he becomes a powerful focus for mailitia's that were and still are loyal to him and other factions who's agenda's are at odds with one another. If Saddam manages to escape prison, he will be hunted down and arrested and the whole cycle begins again., so which is the greater evil or greater good.

I
We actually armed Saddam when he was fighting Iran.

Western governments did more than turn a blind eye, though, to Iraq's use of chemical weapons in the 1980s. The US in particular supplied the material, logistical information, political backing and finance to Saddam Hussein’s regime

We were actually the ones to give him the power to start wars in the first place. How can WE say that Saddam should die when WE actually gave him a few weapons of mass destruction in thel first place! How can we sentence a man to death when our leaders have started an unlawful war in Iraq. I agree that Saddam has done some terrible things in the past, but what about other dictators such as Mugabe? why do we do nothing about him? Look at the mess in Africa and we do nothing.
Iraq's assault on Iran, then the West's enemy-in-chief, involved the use of mustard agents, and the nerve gases sarin and tabun, from 1981/82 to 1988. Thousands of Iranian conscripts were choked to death in the first years of the war, and Iranian civilians were targeted with chemical agents as part of a campaign of terror. This was the context in which the Iraqi regime learnt not to worry about the prospect of international condemnation, however murderous its acts.

Personally, I think he should be exiled instead. By excuting him, we run the risk of making him a martyr and another casualty of our occupation. Considering the present instabilities in iraq, we do not need to introduce an additional variable.

Some say if we bring our troops home war and terrorist will follow. Don't you think if our Troops are here they could not protect us? What concerns me is with so many of them over there, are we protected here? At least fighting here they would be protecting their own. Why do our leaders always have to stick their noses in others affairs. If they had been doing their jobs these wonderful leaders and the others who are supposed to be protecting us those towers would not have gone down, they say we have taken care of the man responsable for that, then why are they still over there. Bring our troops home let them protect US! Give them a good reason to die for, if they must. Not everyone in the world lives their lives around this situation and even though they might not be as informed as the person who quickley states you don't know what your talking about, or get educated before asking stupid questions, let me tell you something, The only stupid question, is the one not asked.

Didn't the American occupation allow it to happen? Weren't most Iraqis safer under Saddam than under Amreican occupation? Not to say that Saddam deserves medals, but the average Iraqi was in much better shape before the Americans attacked. Can you see that?

If the mountain wont come to mohammed then mohammed will have to be sent to the mountain. Preferably the himalays in India or Pakistan. The goverments of these afformentioned countries should be told to make plans to take their own people back. Since they are saying the 21st century is Asias century then the sooner they leave the better.
