Relax... switch to decaf....
Ethiopia had the twin problems of civil war and famine in the 1980's. They've done better since then.
And, Ethiopia sees the hazards of the Islamic crazies in Somolia, and fears another civil war (or in this case, a religious war). If you think that Darfur is sad (Islam against Christians) then Ethiopia will be even worse should it get started. Ethiopia simply attacked the war lords that the USA failed to "deal with" (kill) during the Clinton years.

You're right in a sense -- Ethiopia was one of the poorest places on earth back in the 80s. A terribly inefficient and corrupt communist regime stole from the people and lined the pockets of the government. Since then, a republic has been established, and people are doing much better. The help we gave back then really did make a difference.
The guns and planes are brought to you by the good old US of A. The reason: look at Ethiopia's neighbors. To the west is Sudan, where Islamic militias nurtured Al Qaida and where government-paid horsemen maraud Darfur and have slaughted hundreds of thousands of innocent people. To the south is Kenya, where Al Qaida operatives bombed the US Embassy. To the north, we find Eritrea, a former Ethiopian province, which is now Muslim and willing to flex its oil-funded muscle. And to the east is Somalia, where the failed American invasion of 1991 has left a failed state, controlled by militia groups and chaos: the perfect breeding ground for terrorism.
I'm no fan of the Iraq invasion, but if there is one area of the world that we should be involved in, the Horn of Africa might be it. Since Americans will never support a return to Mogadishu, we have to take care of this front by proxy. So we have sent "advisors" and weapons to Ethiopia, for that predominately Christian nation to fight for us. I don't have much hope that they'll do better than we did 15 years ago, but we'll see.

do these folks just make it up as they go along, or what?
lmao
i won't dispute the account of the lady who said she was there. it sounds like she had a bad trip and i sympathize, but i will correct her. american media has not misled you into thinking ethiopia was just the most devastated place in the world; you misled you. you are recalling Feed the Children ads from the eighties.
as for the rest of the folks, its funny how the folks who talk like they know never mentioned a single drought. in fact, when those ads were run, year after year, there was a series of droughts, year after year. since most ethiopians lived off sustenance farming, this devastated the country.
funny how the folks who talked like they know completely forgot to mention eritrea. look on any map of the eighties, or before. ethiopia stretches all the way to the sea and eritrea does not even exist. coincidentally, eritrea is muslim. this has been recognized as the chief reason for the split. there was a long war, which forced heavy ethiopian military spending. the u.s. did militarily support the christian nation against the muslim break-away state.
if you want to know the history of ethiopia, do not look here for answers. these folks will just make up a history for you.

Having been in Ethiopia about 6 months ago, the situation is not as bad as we are led to believe. True, people are starving, but not in the numbers that the news media are letting on. Sadly, my husband was beaten while over there because he was an American and they thought he had money to give out. We will never return to that country ever.
FACT.

zombies have not got any particular interest in brains- that became a premise from the series of zombie spoof video clips- that they had zombies speaking and questioning as properly! genuine zombies do no longer talk, think of, or crave brains- they crave residing flesh! they crave it on instinct. in the event that they locate no flesh to consume, they're going to easily shop shambling around, waiting for some to come again around, or chasing any that passes via... the lively lifeless bodies could finally succumb to decay and crumple, however the technique seems to take a lo-ong time!
