They say they're going to film the whole execution to be shown only in Irak, I'm not interested in seen someone being hanged, but there are others who might be interested, for sure that movie would never be shown here in the States..☺

Snapping of the spinal cord. Not strangulation. There are 32 vertabrae in the spinal column and they are all separate pieces and are held together by very strong cartliage. It is the cord inside the vertabrae that breaks and not the separate bones. Strangulation can only occur when lynch mobs hang someone. It is a skilled job because the noose must be placed in a special way at the side of the neck. Death is virtually instantaneous. Don't dwell on this, we know it seems barbaric but just think of the miserable deaths the hundreds of thousands suffered at Saddams behest. Think instead of Jesus and why we had Christmas

I would be as interested in watching Saddam hang as much as some other dictators who suppress the will of the people. The one that comes to mind starts with a A and ends with chaos and thousands of troops brainwashed into thinking they are liberators....

You may want to see it, but unless the tape gets released officially or purchased and leaked to the media (quite likely in our modern world of greed), you won't be able to watch this on the daily news.

from the NY Times....

"Mowaffak al-Rubaie, the national security adviser, said there would be no advance notice of the execution because of fears that any announcement could set off violence. When asked who would be invited to attend the hanging, Mr. Rubaie said: “No television. No press. Nothing.”

He said that the execution would be videotaped but that it was unlikely the tape would be released. "

Yes there are people interested in watching Saddam being HUNG. I believe that it should be available for those who wish to view the execution - those of us who do not wish to watch can tune it out and please make sure that the children are not watching. It is definetly for mature viewers.

No. This is cruel and barbaric. It's more than enough that they're putting a human being to death.

I totally disagree with the death penalty for a number of reasons. It doesn't deter crime. It's not the most effective punishment. It's expensive. And it sends a bad message to children--that human life is expendable and that we're above the moral imperative.

Yes, i would watch, and to the idiot(abe simpson) that answered before me, exicution is not as expencive as keeping the criminal locked up all his life. Rope only costs $5, or if you prefer, a 9mm slug will run you about 45 cents. Exicution DOES deter crime, you exicute the criminal and they are not going to steal, rape, kill ect. ever again. The only message it will send to kids is dont steal, rape, kill.

By the way it's hanged, not hang or hung :) and I don't think it's right to show it. After all... the Bible says thou shalt not Kill... Someone has to put that rope around his neck... it's not moral.
