All of us in the states can only glean information about the war mainly from news stories, pundits and polls. I am wondering if there are any soldiers home from a tour in Iraq who would be willing to give us their opinions on how they think the war is going. Do the Iraqi's seem to want us to stay the course? Or do they want us out of there? How did your tour there affect your stand on the war?
I don't want gruesome tales of bloodshed. I am more interested in the mindset that prevails there among our soldiers.

Someone responded to another YA question about 9/11 plane victims by saying there were no passengers on the planes that crashed that day. My guess is he is just another nutty conspiracy theorist? There should be hundreds of grieving families. Anyone know someone who died as a passenger, or know OF someone who died as a passenger?

Thanks

For my government class, we will be having a debate on whether the president has gone too far, especially with regards to the issues of wiretapping and the detainee bill.

I am to argue that the Bush administration has, in fact, gone too far, and has completely undermined the checks and balances.

What questions can I ask the other side, or what points can I make to defend my argument?

Thanks.

99% of the girls I talk to in everyday life don't know where a conversation is going when you speak to them about the news or politics or basically anything other than celebrities, entertainment and fashion and clothes and makeup. I know about these and much more. It's embarrassing, no wonder women are called stupid more often.

Recently my post office changed the zip code for my area. One week ago, I got a notification from Netflix that my address zip code had changed from 95616 to 95618. How did they know? I have also noticed that other companies like my cell phone provider and my utility company also modified my zip code to the most current one. Mail still gets delivered to me through both zip codes so I know no mail was returned to the senders.

How there is a huge rise in the amount of teachers have sexual relationships with their students, also how there are teachers like Debra Lafave who get a slap on the wrist, and then others who get years in prison for having a lesser crime or same crime. How do you think media effects the view on these differences, and why do you think that some get off easier than others? Also what is your opinion on how media sees a male teacher statutory raping a female student compared to visa versa? And any other feelings you have about the whole situation.

President Bush will join his parents at Saturday's christening of the nation's newest aircraft carrier, named for his father, at shipbuilder Northrop Grumman Newport News.

The carrier, CVN-77, is called the George H.W. Bush, after the country's 41st president.

President Bush will participate in the ceremony, said Blair Jones, a White House spokesman.

"This is a tremendous honor for the president's father, and he's looking forward to the christening," Jones said Monday.

Oh yeah, Carter got a submarine.

A divided Ohio Supreme Court on Tuesday threw out a lawsuit that tried to reveal the names of donors to a group running ads critical of the Democratic candidate for governor.

The court ruled 4-3 that it didn't have jurisdiction to rule on the lawsuit filed by the Ohio Democratic Party on behalf of its gubernatorial candidate Ted Strickland. The court said state law gives that authority solely to the Ohio Elections Commission.

I love it.

A high-calorie diet combined with life in the cell block - almost around the clock in some cases - is making detainees at Guantanamo Bay fat.

Meals totaling a whopping 4,200 calories per day are brought to their cells, well above the 2,000 to 3,000 calories recommended for weight maintenance by U.S. government dietary guidelines. And some inmates are eating everything on the menu.

One detainee has almost doubled in weight, to 410 pounds, said Navy Cmdr. Robert Durand, spokesman for the detention facilities at Guantanamo, a U.S. Navy station in southeast Cuba.

Human rights groups attribute the weight gain to lack of exercise. They cite accounts of released detainees who complained they were allowed to exercise fewer than three times a week outside their small cells.

But Durand said detainees are simply served a wide variety of food and are expected to choose what appeals to them.
