99% of the girls I talk to in everyday life don't know where a conversation is going when you speak to them about the news or politics or basically anything other than celebrities, entertainment and fashion and clothes and makeup. I know about these and much more. It's embarrassing, no wonder women are called stupid more often.

People, please.

I am a girl, and I don't give a f*** about getting laid.

I swear anytime I have said anything about the news to a girl, their eyes glaze over and they change the subject. 'Did you watch Big Brother?' is a reply or something along those lines.

I am sorry but not all teenagers are like that its normally girls, especiallly Asian girls in Bradford, England.

Thick as ****. He He

Alright. I see I will ahve to explain myself. I am not racist. I am an Asian girl myself. I do not talk down to people in fact I rarely talk about this kind of thing, but I do know what people I know are like and you do not. I also thought it would wind people up.

I don't like it that girls do this because I think it is the reason men are more powerful, too powerful. I am not a problem for my gender, please, if you met me and spoke to me you would change your mind, sometimes what I say across the internet comes out wrong. Also I do not speak for 99% of all women. I said that 99% of the ones I meet and have spoken to, I guarantee you that figure is very accurate.

and when you were young, what did you converse about?

It just means that you are more politically aware of what is going on in the world, and most women that you meet are not. It may also depend on age groups that you hang out with. I am a guy and I think a lot of younger folks don't pay too much attention to world events very much. This includes both boys and girls.

Since you are a girl, most of the people you talk to are probably girls also. So, your sampling of people is a bit eskewed.

Additionally, women do tend to focus on non political things slightly more than men do. But that is minor. I think it just has more to do with the age groups you are interacting and since you've been more active in politics you are finding yourself not being able to converse with the women you are hanging out with.

I talk a lot of international politics and I can;t find a lot of guys here in America who know much about international anything..!

You should participate in debates and channel your energy that way and don't worry about people who can't keep up with you. There are plenty of them who can and would love to hear about what you want to say.

I hope that helps....

It's media pressure and peer pressure i reckon. The news don't make the profit margins swell so they don't get encouraged by the media in general to care for current affairs. And not sure about Bradford but down here in East Sussex even the adult woman only seem to want to talk of 'entertaining' stuff. So if their parents don't care for what is happening in the world beyond the front page of the tabloids it is very doubtful that in the average comprehensive peer pressure will get them interested in the world.
Too many parents think it is the job of schools to totally prepare their kids for adult life. And most schools are so buried under paper work they got no time to teach beyond the basic stuff what they have to according to the syllabus.
I don't think it's just young girls. Only with boys it is football, cars and the latest pair of trainers.

Its true that generations of youngsters arent always up there when it comes to national or worldy things but have to say There are definately a lot more dumber ppl today, they have better schools ,more money, and lifes more easy.Im talking about those who follow the trends to theT.Not those who want to do well in their studies,Its All this Idolism shite thats messed them up,
The entertainment business and media trends has made them believe theyre adults already.
If Even the Asian population in Britain was 15% Theres bound to be Most definately more British non asians girls that way .,In proportion to which ethnic background ones from, theres not that much difference ,

Actually to an ageing politically active straight guy like me girls who can take a real interest in celebrities and cothes and makeup are a real breath of fresh air.
Young people who "Take an Interest" in politics generally have not been round long enough to construct the nescessary cocoon of cynisism around themselves to realise that the policies they noisily champion are transitory, and when implemented will cause unforseen effects which will not only negate the positive effect of the policy but will create a situation whereby even the baseline existing prior to implementation of the policy will be impossible to re attain even if the policy is abandoned.
So girls please carry on dreaming about clothes and celebrities, soon enough the realities of children, store cards, unfaithful lovers, unfaithful Husbands, spreading waistlines etc will intrude on your lives and you will lose faith in the vision that your favourite celebrity will be so taken with your latest outfit, hairstyle
or makeup that he will sweep you of your feet.

I have noticed some females have a tendency to engross themselves in materialistic pop culture a bit too heavily. A young girl at my work spoke to me last week saying "What do you do at the weekend? Do you not go shopping? It must be very boring".

I'm afraid all I could suffice as a reply was a blank look.

Many teenagers don't want to be talked down to even if they could use it. There seems to be a certain age when they seek their own identities. I wouldn't expect my kids to freak out about the current news until it directly effects them. Ignorance is bliss? Many females have been trained to believe it's a guy thing. The news is usually negative and depressing.

Tell me about it! It seems most young girls don't seem to care about current events unless it involves materialistic things.
A lot of them don't even know who the Vice President or the Secretary of State is, and don't care. If you ask them to look something up on a map; well I don't think half them know the difference between a country, state, or a continent.
They are too busy texting messages to their friends or on their cell phones yaking away about who knows what, or cares what.
There are so many gadgets nowadays, I guess that's all they have time for.

I have a 15 year old daughter and I think news or politics is not something she holds in high priority. Boys may be different and as they get into college - especially when they can be recognized as a voter - their interests may change. To a large extent it depends on the individual and their maturity level.

I don't care at all about celebrity gossip, new hit dramas (with the obvious exception of Grey's Anatomy), or entertainment. I care about what the world is coming to, how we can change what will happen, and how messed up our curent leaders are. Don't stereotype, there are intelligent and open minded girls out there!
