I worry about the same thing!! maybe homeschooling is a good idea. But then our kids grow up sheltered from the world so at least if you do home school, put them in activities

Well there always is a chance of danger no matter what you do. I mean walking in the park can be dangerous. that doesn't mean that you are going to stop walking in parks. Right? Homeschooling can be good but it really limits your children from having friends and growing up with a well rounded social life around people. I think you should talk to your children's school and talk about security. Talk to your children about what to do if a crazy man does come in there school. This is your choice but you should tell your kid that all that has to be on there minds is getting out of the buiding. There is a chance that if they make the kids stand in a line they will probably shoot them anyway.

That's a hard question to answer. I live in Indiana and I've been considering taking my child out of public school as well. I think that if you have the time and the resources to home school them then do it.

What you see is not a gun's fault it is the nuts running loose all around us!!!it is time to start locking some of these perverts up and for people to start asking questions if you have a nutjob living close to you!back when we had small towns everybody knew who was nutty? now they crisscross the country!!!serial killers, perverts, nutjobs! all of them need to be put away and the hell with "their" rights!anybody who messes with a kid ought to get the death sentence! automatic!!! no plea bargains! make your kids aware of strange peopleand odd situations, they have to learn to live in this world?

I also live close. I think it would be up to you weither or not you homeschool your children. Either way raise them to trust in the Lord. That is the most important thing.

God bless

Our kids are not in school, yet, but with all this violence we are seriously considering to home school. No even rural schools seem to be safe anymore. Furthermore all the recent shooting have hapend in nice, quite, rural areas.

No, although terrible, these events are thankfully very rare. Think how many schools there are in America that never witness anything like this. The odds of it happening at your school are tiny, but I do understand your fear.

Your children would receive a better education at home. Besides the higher level of safety.

I was talking to my husband about this very issue last night! We don't have kids but if we did I'd be scared to death for them.
