What was his name, and his motive? (I'm referring to the one who shot 20 people today).

This is really a shock to me. How many Columbines does Québec need? That's three, in the past seventeen years (Polytechnique, in 1989, Concordia, in 1992, and today, at cégep Dawson), and more than enough.

Just... why? How do these things happen? What goes on in a person's head that they enter a school and start shooting people?

The suspect has been shot by policemen, and one girl died. Three others are in a critical situation, and about twenty people are in emergency blocks in several Montréal hospitals.

Just... why? Are there answers? I hear students crying on the television behind me.

Something is rotten in this society, and a wake-up call needs to be made. When things like this happen, you need to wonder about the situation of people, especially young ones.

The suspect is dead, and if they don't find a note, there most likely won't be any motive found. A gratuitious shooting, how pleasant.

What makes a person tick this way? Does anyone have an answer?

I know Mel Gibson was a complete jerk for saying what he did, and it is reprehensible to burn the Koran, or write jokes about Muslims, but does anyone but me see a double standard here when it comes to Christian things?

Example: Madonna mocking a sacred Christian symbol in her show by being on a disco-cross with a crown of thorns during her R-rated show...(Not to mention NBC agreeing to air it)...If someone acted out a sacred Muslim tradition, they would be practically burned at the stake in the media!!

And Christians are always portrayed on TV and in movies to be right-wing fanatic nut jobs (I agree that some are, just like there are nut jobs in EVERY cultural/social group) but there are lots who aren't. Why is this behavior accepted, ner I say even encouraged!!

Tonight I just heard that nuclear stuff was smuggled into the USA from Mexico by one or more of the Al Quaida terrorists and that the FBI were hard on looking for them. Why has this not been on the news? My husband says he heard it on the Michael Savage show. Instead of the media advertising just how insure Canada and USA are (borders, ports, transportations and so on) not just to the North American people but do they not realise that the damn terrorists are listening and watching the news too? I am so furious because something like this is what should be on the news and letting the people know that maybe we should as citizens start taking precautions. If our malls or ports or highways and so on are not yet safe from attacks maybe they should take care of it and feed our ears with news that should be mentioned. Any input?

How many have noticed that gas prices, which have soared above $3.00 all year, have taken a very convenient (and steep) downturn right before the November elections, when the Republicans are on the verge of losing their majority in Congress? Are Bush's oil company friends trying to make the economy look good by lowering gas prices for a few months until the elections are over, in hope that it will make voters feel better about the GOP incumbents?

Okay, so after watching "The Path to 9/11" on ABC, it left me with some questions. First of all, Why do people ONLY blame the Bush administration for the 9/11 tragedy? In my opinion, while they were to blame *partly* the Clinton admin. is just as guilty. He and everyone else *knew* that Bin Laden was responsible for the bombing of the WTC in 1993 but he didn't do anything about it. Also, concerning the war in Iraq and Afganistan, everyone says that it's Bush's fault that he didn't stop the, but now he IS, by trying to kill the very people who are responsible, yet the same people who say he didn't do enough to stop it, are saying we should pull our troops out. It just doesn't make any sense to me. It seems to me that more people blame Bush than anyone else, including the very group that caused all this.
