To be truthful if I was fourteen and she was my first I would be thanking my lucky stars. She is an absolute knock out and should have been a model instead of a teacher.
The reality of the matter is there is a double standard surrounding this issue. If a male teacher had done this to his female student there definitely would have been jail time, probably several years worth too.
Personally consensual sex with minor that have already gone through the majority of puberty is a real grey area. Though I believe everyone should respect the law, the law does not always reflect a perfect moral reality.
Is it moral to sleep with a minor? In the past many people were married at 13 and even younger. In most cultures you were considered an adult by the time you reached that age.
Just because the cultural paradigm has changed does not mean the absolute has changed. In most instances the absolute is flexible, depending on the circumstance and spirit.

I find it very gross that a 23 year old would have sex with a 14 year old two or three times. I mean, maybe the kid wanted it-but she's an adult and a teacher. It must look bad on the school she taught at and also adults (including teachers) may not be perfect but they need to be rolemodels for the students. And having sex with a student is something that could've been prevented.
I didn't know the judge said that "Debra was too pretty to go to jail". If that's true, then that's messed up. You shouldn't judge anybody by their physical features-but by what they did. In which what Debra did was wrong and she should be in jail. But I guess house arrest is good enough.

She deserves the same kind of jail time a man would get if he'd had sex with a 14 year old girl. She got off way too easy. We don't want to hear excuses from male pedophiles ... why should she be any different?

I think she's an immature brat who thought she could get by with this perverted behavior. And she got a crazy, liberal judge who likes bleached blonde bimbos more than the law or the rights of children. The one I felt sorry for was her husband. He surely didn't deserve having the spotlight thrust on him for the sins of his whoring wife. I wish him well. I wish the child well. I wish a real judge could get hold of her and follow the law to the letter. House arrest? What a bucket of c-r-a-p!!

The judge said that? I thought she said that. I hope he didn't agree with her. Just imagining anything like that gives me the shivers! What was going on in that pretty little head of hers?

Well, house arrest makes sense.
The prisons are too overcrowded for one.
I think she may not teach again in that state though. Maybe not anywhere in the US.

she is a child predator and a rapist but its OK cause she is a woman... How wrong is that.. The judge who sentenced her should be removed from the bench since he/she is not fit to be on the bench....
