Sophia in the following answer that I got from her. I can understand her point!
Religious fanatics are mostly emotionally and mentally weak people. They have a hard time dealing with turbulence's of every day life, so religion offers them a constant support. It must be nice to be able to blame all of your actions on God, so you do not have to take responsibility for them. They also enjoy getting together with others like minded people: their strength is in numbers. They gladly give up their ability to think as a payment for sense of belonging. Being led by the nose by power hungry religious leaders is their every day reality.

However, intelligent and self assured individuals could never partake in an arrangement like that. Because we are used to question everything.

This government likes to talk the talk on global warming and climate change and the threat we all face. Now they want to build a third runway at Heathrow that will create the same amount of carbon emissions that some countries produce on their own. Should we all just give up on recycling and paying green taxes and trying to cut our own carbon footprint if this goes ahead? It seems ridiculous to me.

PS I posted this in the environment section but I don't know how many people look at that one so am reposting it here as it seems to be more active. Apologies for the duplicate post. Would like your thoughts and opinions. Thanks.

Its pretty nasty really. Why can't it be accepted that they lost the game and didn't qualify because the other team was better. That's usually the reason after all.

But no, it will be harped on about for weeks, someone will be sacked or forced to resign.

Whats wrong with holding your heads high and having a bit of pride rather than this undignified blame game?

Is is to ensure that we DO feel less guilty when we over spend at Christmas? I know that when I did a Business/Economics study 10 years ago, one of our lecturers said (and it stuck in my mind) that every goverment wants to stimulate a spending bug in their society as it keeps a country going, encourages foreign investors, and creates a healthy enviroment financially. I know in a broad generalisation this may be true, but I think its a big hype to already forcast in the media that everyone is going to overspend and worry about debts after Christmas.. its like giving everyone the green light to go and get that loan or do their credit card in a bit more. Scary no?? We all do it, but how much does the media effect our decision or spending behaviour this time of year? Or are we even aware of it as being a tactic?

Gerry and Kate are in Rome to see the pope. Gerry writes that when he phoned to see how the twins were getting on he was
"....suprised to hear that they were tucked up in bed by 7.30. They must like their new beds......" Yet I distinctly remember Gerry stating in the Spanish interview he walked out of that his children were always in bed asleep by 7.00 - 7.30.
He just can't keep up with his lies and contradictions

So Gerry, why be so suprised that they were tucked up in bed by 7.30 when you have consistently stated that this was their "normal" bedtime.

Can anyone explain to me the conflict in unbiased, lemans terms? My understanding is that Jewish people were given Palestine (Israel) to resettle after the war and the Palestinian people were unceremoniously shifted to Lebanon. But I know I'm probably wrong. And I don't really understand what's been happening ever since. Also, I hear people making comments about the USA's involvement with Israel but I know nothing of that either.
You might think I'm a total dumbass (and you'd be right) but I've only started reading newspapers in the last year and can't get to grips with the context surrounding all these articles that I'm reading.

Thanks for your help. :)

Iraq and Afghanistan are independent countries with set of laws to guide their countries. It might not conform with the laws of other countries but it is their laws that they believe necessary to guide their nation's destiny. The US invasion caused so many lives more than any terrorist has inflicted to any nation.

Are all democratization efforts made by the USA doomed to be renamed attempts by corporations to gain new markets?Just because America is capitalist doesn't mean bankers and CEO's magically become scapegoats.Examples include how the war in Iraq was magically renamed a war for oil,how vietnam was called a war for american markets,or even Tony L's answer here.

speak out and condem the rape and torture of this Saudi Woman, King Abdullah is a bush family friend and major Ally, The King backed the Bush family's failed oil deals. Members of the royal family were spirited out of America hours after 9-11, so Bush should have some pull with the King. Many of the worlds governments have already condemed this outrage. So what's up with the Bush Administration?

Oh well I guess it is what we can expect from a country that kidnaps, torture's and executes people

No wonder nobody trusts the media anymore, they can't the difference between crap and important information. On the CNN website they had a story about Britney spying on K-fed, a furr ball in a girls intestine, a mayor in Arkansas being abducted by satan, and a death related to a tongue piercing. My God, who is in charge over there, Homer Simpson?
