Why do you think America needs to be capable of 'fielding' wars? Is capital imperialism spread by the use of force is an American value? What you call the 'modern liberals' and the 'new left' are only the regular citizens of America. The right wing religious extremists that you identify with are just a wealthy, but tiny group! They have their share of followers, but those followers are lied to as well. War is not an American Family Value!
