i do think so
the more these people try to justify their actions and deflect blame away from themselves the more that people seem to be questioning their good sense and credibility.....
they were slow to learn that if you court the press and try to manipulate them that they may well not always support you...........remember Diana?
EDIT
just read the other posts - what a lot of intellectual snobs....
which paper should we read to help us to come to the right conclusion?
Daily Star readers are just as capable of forming an opinion as many of the snobs on here are.......it might not be the same as yours - so what?
they are probably talking about the case, watching TV programmes and collecting information to inform their decisions just as you would all have people believe you do
Get over yourselves

I read more common sense in the red-tops most of the time than I do in the broadsheets. Isn't it funny how people who read the Guardian consider themselves morally superior to everyone else. I'm sure if there was a national poll of all classes the majority would not support what the McCann's did! Or do we care so little about our children in this country?

No, I honestly believe that the majority of people even if they thought what they did was wrong still think they've paid a huge price already and nothing would be gained from prosecution. It's really about Star readers wanting their pound of flesh.

To those of you who say that Social Services have investigated the McCanns and found them NOT guilty of child neglect, I ask this question:
If the social workers had turned up at the McCann house in Rothley and found the door unlocked, the twins left at home alone, and the McCanns at the local pub over 100 metres away and out of sight and earshot of their house, would they have thought that this was acceptable parenting? I don't think so.
So why does the fact that they were in Portugal when they did this very same thing make it acceptable?
Judging by the opinions of my own circle of acquaintances (mostly professional/graduates) I would say that 86% is a realistic, indeed conservative, estimate of those who believe that the McCanns should face child neglect charges.

I just knew that this question would be answered by morons ridiculing the Daily Star, I read the Daily Star, and I am far from thick, I have two grade A "O"levels in English Language and English Literature, as well as an A level in English Lit, so I don't class my self as stupid, maybe people feel that if they insult readers of a certain newspaper, then that some how makes them appear more brainy? If thats the case, then isn't that silly?
86% of the readers say the McCann's should be prosecuted for child neglect, and so do I!
Why does that Mary christmas person assume Daily Star readers are chavs? isn't that a bit narrow minded, why the insults again?

Oh dear! Cookie says it is not an intellectual paper is it? Well as we all know being an intellectual doesn't necessarily count for much. Take for example what happened to a certain little girl when she went on holiday with her intellectual parents.

Out to persecute - though I'm sure you wouldn't mind if they still get child benefit (for Madeleine) Mrs Sanchez!
I'll also educate a tad - How many took part in this "reader survey"?
86% = how many!?
Statistics are meaningless unless you're going to quote the actual total of those that took part....and even then it would be a very sad reflection if it was, as I suspect, a very low percentage of readers that took part in this survey. :o)
(thanks for the ten points btw!)

I don't read the star but it seems to be the only paper brave enough to stand up to the McFraudsters. I imagine that 86% is probably about right regarding the amount of people who feel that the Mc's should be charged with neglect. I base my judgement on what I have read in forums and people I know's point of view and comments people post in other newspapers. My own opinion is that they should be charged with neglect to show people that leaving babies alone while you go out drinking in not acceptable behaviour regardless of who you are or who you know.
