You should be worried.I have never come across so many alcoholics as here in Spain, its unbelievable ,don't think for a minute its just the teens binge drinking ,the ones we see are middle aged with money to spend and nothing to do ..Its frightening.

Oh yes - I worried about how much I drank as a student (and that was a dangerous amount in the1980s) and the years afterwards when I was working but still had the nightlife.
I don't drink very much now, but I was worried enough to have some blood tests and a scan which I paid for myself. Turns out I'm healthy. It seems that some people are more susceptible to liver damage than others and I've been lucky - because I really used to hammer it.

I know the harm alcohol does, have long been aware of the theoretical unit limits and my own personal capacity.

Booze has been with us since mankind first fermented fruit juice (probably by accident) and it will be with us as a 'social lubricant' until some other drug becomes more fashionable.

If I'm worried about anything at all, I'm more concerned about the self-righteous smug New Puritans who want to ban this, that and everything because they think they know what's best for us.

No
They don't know what is life threatening, they make guesses.
Moderate drinking, is thought to help protect the heart from coronary heart disease in men over 40
One research result was that you could drink up to 63 units a week to have the same health risk as a teetotaller

Our media is saying 3 drinks a day causes brain damage.

I drink 2 to 3 glasses of white wine per day, & feel o.k. about that.
Look at France, Italy, Spain, they are low in heart disease & mental illness, & they drink a lot of wine!

It's the binge drinkers who are liver or brain damaged, & alcoholics.

Yes, alcohol leads to crime & violence, wrecks families etc. but like all things, moderation is the key.

As for the weed, I thought it leads to other drugs & also kills brain cells?

I'm not worried because I've never drank very much. Alcohol just makes me feel sleepy and I always have too much to do to have time for naps!

i dont drink anymore, only drank in my youth, i suppose i drank too much at times but would you know if you done any damage. you just hope that you eat healthly and your body can repair itself aswell. i suppose it would be nice if there was a test we could get easily to check our livers but i expect it would cost too much money. there is so many illness we could get and worry about its just another one to add to the list

I know my limitations, its the teenagers I worry about, underage drinking is on the increase, and those adults who buy them alcohol, should be jailed
