Technically, yes (e.g., the First Amendment of the US Constitution). But in practice, no. I stopped watching television news (including local, network, and cable news) entirely earlier this year. I was appalled at what is considered newsworthy. Many people rightly criticize countries like China, North Korea, and Myanmar for suppressing press freedoms. But I have come to realize that there is media censorship in the US, instituted by news organizations themselves who are beholden to their corporate masters, and the American populace, who generally seem more interested in Paris Hilton, white guys killing their pretty wives, crazy astronauts, and runaway brides rather than relevant national and international events.

Why not?
As long one is willing to get press and roll out flat from in between the press.
No one is stopping.
So it's always free to get press.
What do you think?
