Who finds it funny that since there were no hurricanes yet this hurricane season and none on the forecast..that all of a sudden a BIG oil company (BP) needs to shut down its entire plant to fix some corrosion and cover pipelines. Yet, we are effected by this company that only brings in 10% of the US's crude/sweet oil, tremendously. Regular unleaded went up .11cents immediately, so it is now $3 and higher.
Do you guys think they were anticipating another rough hurricane season like we have had in the past 2 years and since that has not occurred this BP BS is their solution to fill their bank accounts?

By the way in Venezuela , they pay less than $1 per gallon for gas that is produced from that country.

She's always bleated she wasn't after his money...now she won't accept a generous £30mill offer of settlement...I'd say she's just proving every bad thing the sleaze-papers have ever written about her. Impediment or not...she doesn't come across as a 'decent person' in this charade so far...and she ought to realize NO ONE is ever going to forget this whole despicable episode in her far-too-media-exploitative life! I am a front desk receptionist for a company and every single day I get a call from someone saying they are Mr. or Mrs. so and so from Card Services and never say what company, and they ask for my co-worker. My co-worker says to put them into voice mail and they hang up. Could this be a sales call or a collection call?

One newspaper said that, "Heather Mills thinks she is the Queen of Hearts, but all she will ever be is the Queen of Tarts."

Heather is not going to win sympathy with her staged claims of being locked out of the house, and seemingly having a direct line to the Daily Mirror! Given her history she should have shown some dignity for once in her sad life and taken the generous settlement offered by Macca - in that way over time people would have forgotten all her rewriting of history. But she has no self respect - and will make her poor daughter a laughing stock at her antics.

I'm a student (high school) journalist. I consider myself to be, in general, pretty competent, but I often have trouble getting good interviews and quotes.

The problem I have is mainly with trying to write down what a person is saying quickly enough. I generally can't keep up with someone who is answering, and have to keep asking them to repeat things, or to wait while I write. This interrupts the flow of the interview, prevents me from getting quotes, and possibly compromises the ones I do get.

So...basically, anyone want to pass down some words of advice on how to take better notes during interviews? I know that a tape recorder would be the best solution, but for practical reasons, that's not always possible.
