Who finds it funny that since there were no hurricanes yet this hurricane season and none on the forecast..that all of a sudden a BIG oil company (BP) needs to shut down its entire plant to fix some corrosion and cover pipelines. Yet, we are effected by this company that only brings in 10% of the US's crude/sweet oil, tremendously. Regular unleaded went up .11cents immediately, so it is now $3 and higher.
Do you guys think they were anticipating another rough hurricane season like we have had in the past 2 years and since that has not occurred this BP BS is their solution to fill their bank accounts?

By the way in Venezuela , they pay less than $1 per gallon for gas that is produced from that country.

I would hardly call it funny.
I prefer the word "criminal". BP should be taking better care of the pipeline and should be fined for any outage due to their lack of care. Some BP employees have already come forward to admit this lack of pipeline care.

Edit: The expected loss of 400,000 barrels per day at today's oil prices means the state is losing about $6.4 million a day in royalties and taxes, Revenue Commissioner Bill Corbus said.

Sounds like the state of Alaska should take action against BP if they really are negligent in maintaining the pipeline.

because of the fact the proprietors of the gas stations are primary working stiffs such as you and me. They offered the franchising and phone use rights from BP previously, and now in basic terms are required to have the branding emblem as area of their company in substitute for keeping their licenses to function a retail gas company. in the adventure that your objective is to injury people who are not area of the subject, boycotting the gas stations will artwork ok. BP would not make plenty money from the gas revenues promptly- the franchising expenditures are one-time up front costs that are paid while the owner opens the station. it extremely is a substantial moneymaker. BP makes maximum of their money refining, making and merchandising branded gas to different providers, to no longer retail.

If they scheduled it, it's not the best time from a greedy corp's perspective since there are no hurricanes. If there were, supply would be even tighter so this minor blip in suppy would drive prices even higher. On the other hand, they have massive leaks in the pipes, with oil on the ground. You prefer they keep letting oil leak?

In 2003 Luan Enjie of China National Space Agency announced China's ambitions for a space program that would focus on mining Helium 3 from the moon. This year China launched a manned space flight. Next year they will put a robot lander on the moon. Helium 3 will be the next energy resource. It will be used in fusion reactors. We compete with China and India for oil reserves. Since the US does not have any program to mine lunar Helium 3 resources, we will not be in competition with China. We will still be using coal.
