Why does U.S. mideast policy tend to favor Israel?

This question is not meant to be anti-Israeli.

I've been noticing for a long time now that U.S. policy in the middle east tends to slide towards Israel more than any other nations. Eygpt is a U.S. ally in Northern Africa yet America doesn't waste time to criticize Mubarak for his oppressive crackdowns on protestors and pro-democracy movements.

When Israel uses oppressive crackdowns such as checkpoints, security barriers and shelling civilian populations than it is seen as self defense. If Iran did the same thing to its neighbors America would be screaming. Why turn the other cheek when it comes to Israel? Isn't this a double standard because Israel "is the Middle East's only Democracy?" Israel isn't better than any other nation nore is it superior. Arab countries shouldn't be deemed as inferior to countries outside the region because they are not democracies. Why this unfairness?

Anyone hear about that Myspace lawsuit??

The thing is about a little 14 year old girl who decided it would be a good idea to meet up with a 17 year old guy. So no, she got sexually assaulted and her mom wants to sue myspace. Whos fault is that? Myspace vs. Mom and Girl? I mean really, we all know myspace is not going to shut down or anything, but what is your opinion on this????
