A long time ago when we were in the industrial revolution war created jobs and money unfortunately that is not the case anymore because we are no longer an industrialized society we are an information society. so i think the old thinking of our leadership is outdated and needs to be rethought. This war has not generated anything other than bad public relations for President Bush. I like a lot of his actions but i think the war on Iraq was more emotionally fueled and based on what the public would want at the time than true necessity. not to mention some say that the fact that his family is rich in oil may play a big part in it. This may or may not be true who knows....either way it is time to pull out, send in a group of Delta force, Navy Seals or Force recon to covertly eliminate the PROBLEMS and problem solved. Very good question by the way.

As the mom of a National Guard soldier, I want to thank you for saying you support our troops. It is certainly possible to support the troops and not the war. I wasn't aware that PFC Menchaca and PVT Tucker were beheaded; however, CNN--and many other news outlets--did report that their bodies were booby-trapped with IEDs (improvised explosive devices). To answer your question, we originally went over there to topple Saddam Hussein's regime. In that respect, we did win. Saddam's on trial for his crimes against the people of Iraq, and democratic elections have been held in Iraq. That's progress towards the Bush Administration's stated goal of "establishing democracy in Iraq". (I should note that I'm not a fan of the Administration.) Our troops are also helping Iraqis rebuild their schools, restore basic services to their communities such as water & electricity, and U.S. troops are training Iraqi military & police forces. Those projects don't get much attention from mainstream American media, so many people aren't aware we're doing that. The idea here is that eventually--and hopefully, it's sooner rather than later--the Iraqis will have the ability to provide their own security and our troops can come home. Several members of Congress have called on the President to implement a plan to withdraw our troops gradually over a period of time, without establishing a specific timetable. Look for that idea to gain momentum in the wake of these recent troop deaths.

well that's another reason to be there. these people are savage animals and its our job to civilize them. its true this seems wrong, but it would be worse to let this savagery to carry on into our future. i was devastated when i heard about the manner of their death, but here we are. our ancestors were allot more civilized than these cowards are. but we know that we are going to win because there just isn't space for people like these in this world.remember these people are not just Iraqis, they come from all around the Muslim world. they use Iraqi civilians to practice their beheading. imagine if you were a poor Iraqi person, your father went to work one day and they kidnapped him and beheaded him as part of their training, how would you feel then.when Zarkawi was killed, they discovered some documents and found out that he had trained 500 men on beheading people and sent them to Europe and America. these people may now be on our country.
i think other nations such as France and Russia are traitors, they did not get involved in this problem even though this is a threat to them as well because of their own interest in the oil and stuff. but we British are with the US all the way, this is our war too and we intend to win it.and we will.

We are there because George Bush and his cronies don't have an exit strategy. They thought we would overwhelm an inferior enemy, and the grateful Iraqis would fall all over us as liberators. As you can see, it didn't happen that way. I predict that Bush and Rumsfeld will come up with some kind of plan for withdrawal right around election day. What a coincidence, huh?

I'm afraid you may not want to learn the answer.Suffice it to say we are in Iraq because our Government made terrible blunders:the first was to accept the reports that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and then not supporting the UN inspection process to continue its work to confirm the presence of such weapons. The next blunder was to think we could bomb Iraq into submission. The amed forces of Iraq never surrendered but became a shadow army and used the tactics of hit/run."We call them terrorists." In truth, they are patriots who want us to leave their country. Our information agencies have decided to use Al Queada[sic] as the bogey man.Now we are told it is wrong to "cut and run"and I ask why?The lives, both arab and american are being horribly abused and the entire effort will destroy our future in the middle east.I'm afraid the Viet Nam disaster is being repeated in Iraq.

not only that but, the fact that we the only nation, in this, the rest of the world, just setting bck looking at us being kill. not doing nothing, even though, we are protecting them too.
they should step up to the plate and help. all the nations tht were in this now they all left leaving us holding the bag.
but, we need to SUPPORT OUR MEN AND WOMEN OVER THERE, no matter what. and show the world, that we are in for the duration. so, keep your heap up and pray for them. we are going to come out of this. sooner or later. SUPPORT OUR TROOPS. they are protecting us.

I am so sorry...I know it bothers me too. Those were someones sons and brothers and I can't imagine how that feels. I don't even want to think about it. The only thing is if we pulled out now we may be attacked on home soil that's all I can come up with. Sorry.
