The thing is about a little 14 year old girl who decided it would be a good idea to meet up with a 17 year old guy. So no, she got sexually assaulted and her mom wants to sue myspace. Whos fault is that? Myspace vs. Mom and Girl? I mean really, we all know myspace is not going to shut down or anything, but what is your opinion on this???? Am I the only one who thinks that parents should try and control what theyre children do online and who they try and meet up with?

I think that is is the responsibility of the parent to know what their child is doing, especially on the Internet. It is a place that children should not be left alone with. My 9 yr old daughter was searching the word "recipes"...oh boy the hits that came up for that one, plain, highly used word. I had to set the control a little higher because of the info that came up in the yahoo search engine.
As parents, we need to be aware of the things, people and places are children are doing, with and going. There has been so much about myspace over the last several months, even in out little town. The web-site was on the news and everything.
Parents, we must keep our children safe, there's nobody closer or more able to do this very important task. We brought them into the world, we need to help them find their way thorough it.

its everyone fauly but myspace. the guy has more blame than anyone for doing such a thing, thats horrible. its also the girl's fault for putting herself in that position and being so naive its something that could have been prevented but i know she didnt ask fo this to happen and its also the mother's fault for not doing a good job at protecting her child. i think her trying to sue myspace is a cop out and her trying to place the blame on someone else. all in all the person really at fault here is the GUY!!! he chose to do this not the lil girl or mother.

Yes I do agree. But this girl snuck around behind her mothers back. Once you're out of your parents hands what are you going to do. But I don't think she can get anything out of suing myspace. It's not myspace's fault. Something went wrong there.

It's definitely the parents and the girls fault. First off the parents should monitor what their child is doing on the internet. How are you going to sue a website for something that your child acting on. Even if the guy hit her up first she should have been taught to disregard people she didn't know on the internet. How dumb.

it's the Mom's and girls fault. even at 14 she should know better than to try to meet anyone online. the mother should have been more aware of what her daughter was up to

I agree with you completely. While I haven't heard about the lawsuit, I think parents need to step up and take care of their kids and quit blaming movies, games, websites, and whatever else they can think of for their kids bad behavior. Teach them right from wrong!
