can i just use lime, fertilize, seed, and topsoil or do I have to get most of the gravel out. Gravel was placed by last owner of house as he had cars in the back. It is a rather large back yard and half is gravel, some grass is growing but not much soil in upper half of yard.

I have two Hydrangea plants in a clay container on my patio. They get eastern exposure, and plenty of water. My blooms have turned the same color the leaves are. How can I remedy this? I had one blue and one pink when i started out, and have made no change in the environment. I think the neighborhood cats have sprayed them. How do I get the color back? Is there a website that gives me care tips on it? Did a google search and couldn't find too much useful info. Have some moon seeds would like to start, but know nothing about them. Any help MUCH appreciated. : )

This year, I have had an unusual number of slugs on my deck. Does anyone know any other suggestions besides the old death by salt trick? Any chemicals they sell at Home Depot kill slugs?

The guilt comes in when they almost always insist on paying for the manure, especialy if they have seen my roses. I usually tell them to make a donation to the Rescue Mission, for the homeless. What should I do?

I have moon flower plans, Ipomoea Alba. And I collected seeds form one and planted them. The seeds came up beautiful but with one problem, the vine and leaves have a purple color. The vines are completely a rich purple and the veins in the leaves are purple as well. I am wondering if they are some sort of hybrid or something, or perhaps there is something too rich, or lacking for that matter in the soil. Will they still produce the beautiful white flowers?

It is tearing up my lawn, but I feel that is a not good enough reason to kill because it is just grass you know. An animal is more important then how my lawn looks, but I was wondering if there was a way I could get rid of it without harming it.

My next door neighbour is currently having major works done to her back garden. The land directly on the other side of our common fence is being raised. Im worried that I will be having problems with drainage as more water will be coming down from her side into my land. No proper retaining wall was built, just planks of wood to retain the soil away from the fence. Does anyone know if i can do anything to stop this, and how badly will it affect me ? many thanks

with my plants. I bought 3 David Austin "Mary Rose" plants. The flowers I'm choosing are namesakes of people I love that have passed on, a "Grandma's Garden" so to speak. My question? Can I add a few new plants each year until the garden is developed or do you think it should be established at one time?

Last year, I planted another and and has grown 10 ft.in one year. I researched and found out that iodine could help. I did add it and nothing has happened. What could be wrong?

I'm in NE Kansas and have been finding these tiny flies that have what looks like a light blue furry body. It's not furry like a spider, but more like the tufty, fuzzy look of a feather boa. They are just a bit bigger than a fruit fly and I haven't observed them landing on anything, just being around- I can't say what they eat, and thus can't identify them that way. My daughters have nicknamed them 'yoshys' because they seemed so alien. I've lived here for 30 years and haven't ever seen them!

Anyone have any idea?
