My little girl is 8 and is allergic to mosquitoes. She wants to know why they were ever put here on earth. Also, if anyone has any ideas on how to get rid of mosquitoes outside, that would be GREAT!! It has rained here all summer and the water is standing everywhere. Hard to get rid of the little boogers when they have the perfect breeding grounds!

Can an ordinary rose bush (shrub) be tied loosely to the fan and have it grow upwards? Or does it have to be climbing roses only? I'm not looking for anything hugely tall; just a little growth upwards would be nice.

These branches are obviously different and grow very fast. Everything I found on the web says suckers grow from the root below any graph. Some of the suckers have sprouted down there but I just removed 5 of them that sprouted near the top of the bush?

I'm growing lemon balm, thyme, sage, and multiple mints.

I tried making lemon balm herbal tea, but it kind of grossed me out (had a grassy taste). Does anyone know a reliable procedure or method to making lemon balm tea? Or anything else I can do with lemon balm/melissa?

Does anyone know if thyme has a lot of iron in it? I recall reading that somewhere.

If anyone has general/interesting info about any of these herbs and things I can use them with or for....

I have a red tile roof, and somehow the sparrows get into each tile, even though each tile is filled with cement. The birds are are nuisance, because of their droppings all over the front steps, and driveway.

I have two Gardenia plants. The leaves were yellowing, but I gave them fertalizer and that got better. Now the flowers are turning yellow soon after blooming white, or right away. After a day or two, they turn brown on the edges and die. Is this natural? I thought the bloom life was longer.

I went to Walmart today and bought this tiny plant and on the label it was called "Cactus-succulent"...I'm not quite sure what it is. It kind of looks like a Jade plant, but it is only 1.5" tall and a lot smaller than the Jade plant. Does anyone know what it could be and more importantly the care for it ie: how much should it be watered - daily - weekly?

I have a large garden and its divided into 2. 1 half is for the family and the other is for my black lab and terrier. They are shitting machines, and no matter how well i clean their side by picking up the dirt, hosing it down and using dissinfectant , IT STINKS TERRIBLE. I would like to buy a few strong smelling trees or plants to drown out the smell. I heard "lavender" is good, Whats the best smelling outdoor tree or plant, maybe something i can plant or pot, doesnt matter.

I have a crape myrtle in my front yard that was proclaimed dead by our urban forestry departement. I was told it would never grow green. Well, I took it upon myself to drench it with miracle grow and plenty of water, it now has leaves and stems, but they are all around the bottom of the trunk. What should I do? Should I cut off the top of the tree to promote it to grow up, should I just leave it alone and let it do its thing...I am stuck. My hubby and I joke that it is now a bush and not a tree.

Was wondering if anyone knew of a "tree finder" type of website that you just plug some information about the type of tree you want and it spits out some choices.

I am getting ready to treat my yard with diazinon or grub x because I think I have grub worms. In my backyard around the patio it is landscaped and the other day I actually saw the little beast for a second but by the time I got out there he had already went back into the mulch. The mole is in my landscaping and I do not exactly know how to handle this. Should I just do nothing and maybe he will go away after he has got his belly full of grub worms or do I treat under the mulching where the plants are at. I do not think I should treat for insects under the mulching in the landscaping.

Someone's advice would truly be appreciated. Thanks.

The mole guy

I planted a rose bush in my front yard around 6-7 years ago. It has now grown about 5 feet tall, and has seperated into what looks like 2 bushes, in the shape of a V. Is there any way I can cut or seperate it somehow, and replant the other part into a different location without killing it? Thanks alot all.

The weeds are taller than the grass and will get mowed. Has the weed killer soaked into the roots, after say 24 hours, to mow, or do I have to wait till the weed killer starts working (visibly)?

Also wondered: how does week killer know not to kill grass?
