We had my baby sis's funeral on May 12th. On that day I received a plant that was given to the family.I don't know the name of the plant but I can describe it as being the "typical" funeral plant. It's a very beautiful potted plant with large green leaves but it has a few large white leaves that kind of look like lillies with a yellowish thing in the middle of the white leaf that resembles a corn cob. It sounds kind of strange but it's the best way I know how to describe this plant. Well it's now almost mid June and my plant is dying. I named the plant after my baby sis. I was told all the plant needed was occasional watering and indirect sunlight. I placed it in front of the window and I water it ever few days. It's almost totally dead. if anyone knows the name of my plant (judging by that weird description) please tell me it's name and how I can revive it. Please. I can't let it die.

Moths are one of my most feared creatures in the universe. (I'll wait while you all stop laughing...) Okay...a week or so ago the HUGEST moth I have ever seen got in my mudroom when I was letting the dogs in. I mean he was so big he had shoulders. Anyway, after several attempts (and fake-outs by Mothra) I finally killed it. Today...after cleaning my car out this weekend - my first mistake - I had 7...yes SEVEN moths ambush me in my car throughout the day. Clearly it was the Moth Mafia (the Mothia, if you will) after me for killing their boss. So at the end of my work day, I pulled the moth-mobile into the moth-cave and began to mow the lawn. OMG. They were EVERYWHERE! Every bush and plant I mowed next to at least 10-15 moths would fly out. Even when I mowed next to my deck. What the heck is going on?! It was surreal. At one point, I forgot my fear and started laughing. Sooo...clearly, they all must die. What's the best method - without killing my current plants?

When I wash my dishes I use liquid detergent and Jet Dry, but I keep getting this white powdery resedue left on the dishes. I've even gone as far as having it professionally cleaned, but alas the same results. I tryed using vinigar also, but same thing. Does anyone have any ideal what is causing this to happen. Even the manufacturer could not come up with any answers in which I've not already tryed.

I have these huge trees in my yard that shed gumballs. (Not sure the sceintific name for them.) I was thinking its so many I should do something with them. I don't want to start a compost thing if I don't have to. Can't I just section off my flower beds and throw them in their on top of the soil? And if I do, will it sprout gumball trees? I don't want more, I have a gagillion spiky balls as it is.

I just purchased a beautiful plant from home depot and now I realize that mealworms (I assume) are in my plant. Initially I saw about 1-3 about a month ago when I brought it home, but today they have completely saturated my plant. Is there any way to get rid of them or do i have to get rid of the plant?

I bought a large regular camp trunk at a yard sale, and it was open, but when I got home it had closed and locked itself. I do not have the key. The lock is a key lock in which a flat metal loop on the top is attactched with a hinge to the base of the trunk. Is there any way, without destroying the lock, to open the trunk?

I live in Florida and we're renting an old house that is poorly insulated. Our house gets up to 80 degrees even with the a/c set at 70! We close all the blinds, keep all lights off and leave a ceiling fan on in the living room for the dog. The bedrooms seem to get the worst of it and my daughter is only 1 year old. Her room takes forever to cool down and it's too hot for her to go to sleep when she's tired. I know curtains can help but is there a specific weight or kind? Are there any other tricks we can do/use to help cool the house down or better insulate the home so the heat doesn't creep in as much?

Assuming that the air outside is cooler than the air inside the room, should a window fan exhaust the hot air out, suck in the outside air, or both (with a dual fan)? Does it make a difference whether there are other windows in the room (e.g., to create a crossbreeze, etc...)? I'm primarily asking about an attic room with large windows across from each other (one facing north, one facing south), but if there are guidelines for other types of rooms as well, I'd love to learn! What if it is just as hot outside as inside?? Does a window fan do anything then?

Hi, I have 2 Friedrich Quietmaster programmable air conditioners and they both developed the same problem. They power up but they do not blow air. The compressor doesn't kick in, nor does the fan. They both light up, the temperature appears and the lights come on the various buttons that I select. But no cold air.

Does this sound like an easy repair? Are air conditioner repairs expensive? Should I just go to Costco and get two new ones with lifetime return policy instead of paying for a repairman?

Thanks.

I used to see bonfires all over the place, especially in Autumn. Having just cut down a lot of bushes etc I have a ton of debris to get rid of. It would take about 15 trips to the dump or one bonfire but is it illegal to burn rubbish nowadays?

The 3 that don't work as well are hooked up to the same system. They worked until I had to replace a couple. I have compared the replacement parts with the old parts and they are exactly the same. Water pressure through those 3 are so weak, that my lawn is starting to die, in those areas. Not quite sure what I should do!!??

I have an outdoor deck where I can store plants, either in planters or in hanging pots. I would love to get some plants to put out there. Only problem is, I have cats. I would not be able to bring the plants indoors in the fall/winter months because they'd either eat the plants (and those might be toxic) Or knock them over and create a dirty mess.

What kind of plants can I get for outdoors on a deck that go dormant in cold months and that would reflower/regrow when the weather turned warm again? I really don't want to have to buy new plants every year just to enjoy them.
