I work for a home builder, and Whirlpool Duets are the best, hands down.
The High Efficiency, you can get different capacities, or even stack-able. They're front loading an use less soap and water to clean the clothes so there is less wear and tear of the fabrics. Your clothes literally last longer. The large ones can do 16 pairs of jeans in a single cycle and they dry in half the time of a standard dryer. Whirlpools also have less mechanical problems then even Miele's or other high end brands.
Good Luck.

The only LG product I have tried so far, is our cell phone. Whirlpool has been my choice for years. I have a Whirlpool front load and I love it. My washer before this one was also a Whirlpool. Although I am hearing more and more the name brand LG, I am still not familiar with it. I also have Whirlpool fridge and stove which I have had for years now.

LG has been making appliances for over 40 years in Europe. LG saves time and energy. LG uses only 25 gallons of water per load and spirits out clean water during the wash to give you brighter whites and vibrant colors. It save power b/c it takes no time to wash. Whirlpool I don't have to much info, but LG stands behind their products. Good Luck

Take a look at what Sears has before you make your decision. One good thing is that they constantly have "specials" running for 12 or 18 months - no payments, no interest (it's deferred) and they've just added a commercial grade Kenmore line of washers and dryers (not sure of the name). The Protection Agreement that they offer is something to look into as well (it's not an extended warranty, it's much better).

Whirlpool has a better reputation than LG; however, GE, Kenmore, and Maytag are the leaders in the industry...
