1/2 cup of borax in the wash.
1 cup of white vinegar in the rinse.

I do it all of the time. I wash my sheets and towels with detergent and borax and put vinegar in the rinse water to soften my towels eliminating the need for fabric softener in the dryer thus reducing their absorbancy.

Yes. I do this very often. Vinegar is a great fabric softener. Both borax and vingar deodorize and can remove mold. There are so many non-toxic alternatives that work so well.

it is safe, neither one of them are harsh chemicals. as a matter of fact i use vinegar to get rid of excess suds from my towels. but never use bleach & other cleaning chemical together you can get a bad reaction from it. its nothing to fool around with.
