Women's Health - June 2007

My family has a very strong history of breast cancer on my fathers side. My great grandmother died at 67 from it, my grandmother died at 55 and my aunt just recently died at 35 from it. With each of them, it has stricken them younger, and it grown faster than the one before. I never thought that I had to worry about it, because it was my fathers grandmother, mother and sister. But it has recently, in the last week been proven that around 50% of women that have breast cancer have gotten the negative genes paternally. I am not really scared, but I have to be logical.
My husband is military, so we have tri-care. I am going to a pre-emptive screening in august to determine my chances of developing it. If I am high risk, I would like to get a double mastectomy and reconstruction. I am not sure if tri-care would cover the re-construction though. Has anyone ever gotten a re-construction through tri-care?? And how does it look? I don't want to end up looking weird there.

i wear tampons whenever possible, because i hate the gross wet feeling, and the messyness. How can you people stand that? do you just ignore it, or is it just more important that you don't have to deal with tampons because of TSS or whatever reason?

I have endometriosis. I just made an appt. again with a doctor in August.
the list i have is
1.- 3 miscarriages due to endo
2. 2 Laproscopes and within a yr. it comes back.
3. Laborlike pain for 3 days if im not prescribed a very strong anti-inflammatory.
4. -It seems to be genetic in my family (sis and niece also have it)


For some reason these 4 points just does not seem to help too much with the docotor i see.
Can someone please help me with other key points on letting this doctor know I want a historectomy. I tried telling them before the Lurpon shot, and that was what i ended up with.
I'm 37 have 2 kids, don't want anymore and i'm tired of this cycle pain, and being in the bed 3 days a month because i can't deal with the pain.

i always get erctions at the worst times. my math teacher has me come up and do problems on the board from our homework (summer school) i always get an erction then. is their a way to hide it and have u ever gotten an erction at a bad time like i did???!?!?!?!? im 13 and i have a pnis of 7 inch is it on the larger size i think ? last time one of my classmate girl ask me what is that mountain like thing inside your pant , i was so ashamed at that time , how i can avoid unwanted erctions ?

Just wondering how many other ladies out there experience severe PMS symptoms?
And how long before your monthly do you usually begin to experience symptoms?
I'm just asking because I feel so irritable and wound up right now, but my period isn't due for another 5/6 days, and I've been irritable now for about 4 days, and feeling sad at the same time too. Some months it's ok, and then others, I really just want to be left alone.

Ok lately my breast are tender to the touch and my period is around the corner. When my nipples arent hard they seem a little inward. But come out real quick when colded or touched. Im 18 years old and never had such a thing.But most the time its not inward just that once or twice that I noticed. Is it anything to be really alarmed with. Since inward nipples is associated with signs of breast cancer?

Warning, this one's a little, well, T.M.I.

I have irregular periods, so I never really know when they happen or how long each one happens. Recently, I had unprotected sex nearing the end of my period. And now, that area... well, smells differently when I urinate.

Could I be pregnant?
Am I supposed to wait before taking a pregnancy test, and if so, how long?
Help!

I had routine bloodwork done recently and it came back that my TSH (thyroid stimulation hormone) was suppressed. I was just about to start my period, so I am wondering if the test results could show that the TSH was supressed due to that fact? All the other parts of my bloodwork came back excellent. I am concerned. I will be going to a doctor, but can't get in for months. Just thought I would ask. Thanks!
