Yes, her doctor can order a hormone level test done at the lab and I beleive there's an over the counter one at the pharmacy. Menopause takes a long time for most of us. I started having night sweats and hot flashes about 9 years ago. Not all the time, just from time to time. One thing you and your friend need to know is this....she has to go one whole year without having a period to be consideredpost menopausal. This time last year I was planning a celebration if I made it to July 1. Juse 25 plans were cancelled. So in a few more days I hope I can consider myself finished.

If you are above age of 40 or 45 then it’s most likely that you be undergoing menopause. But there are some tests available in market as well as for detection of menopause. Basically, F.S.H. is the main hormone involved in producing mature eggs. During menopause the amount of FSH increases in urine. So detection of menopause means just detection of FSH level in urine. The FSH one step test device qualitatively detects FSH in urine to aid in detection of menopause. You can easily learn about this device or even buy it from the link below

No, there are no tests for that, but there are many sites online which discuss menopause, and some have suggestions, like sassafrass tea for hot flashes and loss of libido.

The doctors usually ask how many hot flashes; they think that is a hallmark of menopause, but my grandmother and mother never had one hot flash. Certainly at age 80 + they have ceased estrogen production.

No test on the public market.

Her Gyn can take a blood test to check her hormonal levels to determine if your friend is going through perimenopause (the stage before menopause).

I had the test done a year ago.

She could be starting the menopause
There is a simple blood test her doctor can do, will detect the hormone levels.
Has she taken a pregnecy test?...just a thought
