I have endometriosis. I just made an appt. again with a doctor in August.
the list i have is
1.- 3 miscarriages due to endo
2. 2 Laproscopes and within a yr. it comes back.
3. Laborlike pain for 3 days if im not prescribed a very strong anti-inflammatory.
4. -It seems to be genetic in my family (sis and niece also have it)

For some reason these 4 points just does not seem to help too much with the docotor i see.
Can someone please help me with other key points on letting this doctor know I want a historectomy. I tried telling them before the Lurpon shot, and that was what i ended up with.
I'm 37 have 2 kids, don't want anymore and i'm tired of this cycle pain, and being in the bed 3 days a month because i can't deal with the pain.

Depression is not the reason I stay in bed. It is due to pain. Imagine what it feels like to be in labor all over again. The constant peaking, then letting go, then peaking again, etc...

Hysterectomy is a major surgical procedure, and with the state of the managed health care industry, physicians have to "prove" to the insurance company that they have tried every reasonable non-surgical option before performing invasive surgery.

Now the the Lurpon shot hasn't work, request your hystorectomy again. If the doctor says no, ask around your friends and find out who has a GYN that they love, and have your records transferred there and get a 2nd surgical opinion. Given your history, I'd be surprised if you are unable to find a provider who will honor your request.

August? You can't get an appt. with your regular gyn until August? Wow! Call back and tell them you're in pain, ask if they can bump up your appt., or call you if someone cancels. I'd make ONE more visit to your doctor. At this visit tell the doctor that you're tired of suffering. Then ask the doctor WHY they won't perform a hysterectomy on you. Let doc know that if they won't schedule and perform the procedure for you, you will find another gynecologist, as you're not satisfied with the level of care that you are receiving currently. Then do it. Find another doctor after the next appt. if they still refuse to do your hysterectomy.

I'm in a very similar situation, and have my appointment with Gyn next week. I'm just going to point blank ask her. If she says no, I need valid reasons as to why. I also already have children and cannot deal with the pain. I understand that unless it's medical necessity, insurance won't cover it, which is why a lot of Doctors will tell you no.

In your shoes I would look at getting another doctor! I bet your present doctor is a man!!!!
I think the reasons you have given are more than enough to justify a hysterectomy on medical grounds and you should be very insistent with your present Doctor that you are unhappy with your present care.

You poor girl....I know what you are going through but at the time I went through endometrosis the option of surgery was there...Be more forceful and take a list in...Bladder fixed, appedectomy and uterus removed, check ovaries and tubes for infection etc...I told my doc that he only gets one chance to do the stuff that needs done...Prayers
I had ovarian cysts on one ovary and because the ovaries were not removed...I may be paying the price shortly...ovaries produce estrogen so tendancy to leave in...once left try to get them reexamined...it is a b....ch...

ok im my opinion doctors do hysterectomies for medical purposes, because he doesnt want to loose his liscence and feel its not worth doing the surgery. whatever a doctor does he has to report to the insurance agency, if i were you, just find one who will do it. Tell him your periods are effecting you job and your life and its making you depressed staying in bed 3 times a month. I think he can go off of depression. and if he doesnt give you remember doctors are greedy and trust me one will do it for you, or worse case scenerio go out of the country and get one done.
