I dont mean blowing it directly in their face, but just in general, if they happened to be around it, how harmful can it be? I know that secondhand cigarette smoke can cause pet cancer.

what could cause you to have an ongoing enlarged lymph node (posterier cervical, I believe) on each side of your neck? I have one on each side of my neck, it's not the normal kind that show up when I have a cold. These don't hurt at all, very firm (rubbery might be a good description), and somewhat fixed. I noticed them almost 2 years ago. My doctor is aware of them and has run a lot of different blood test, etc. He says I'm high-normal on a lot of things but still in the normal range. He always checks them each time I go in and they don't appear to be getting larger. He's on wait and watch mode but did give me the option to have them biopsied. I can't stand the thought of a needle in my neck if they mean nothing but then again, from what I've read this isn't normal and I don't want to miss anything that would be okay if caught early. I know different conditions effect different nodes, do you know what could case these nodes to be enlarged? (He's stated they are not lipomas.)

My brother has become convinced of the power of Vitamin B17, an alleged cure for cancer. I was wondering if any of you had any thoughts about the subject.

More information:

My sister recently passed away from Burkitt's lymphoma. She was only 28 years old. She had been diagnosed with infectious mononucleosis 1 month prior to this. She was only diagnosed 6 days before her death. Do people actually recover from this cancer? When I've done research on this cancer, it seems to be very agressive and the average life expectancy is 6 weeks. Any input? Any happy endings?

I have a client who has stage 4 evasive lobular carcino of the right breast. It is caused by her body making massive amounts of estrogen and progesterone from some where in her body. They tried giving her a medication that would put her into menopause to stop the production of the estrogen but she got violently
ill after just two tablets. It actually did give her the symptoms of menopause but the depression was so severe she cryed for two days and was actually thinking of suicide which is something she never thinks of. She stopped taking the medication after the second pill and it took 2 days to lose the side effects. They say it is too big to do surgery (the tumor) and that chemo and radiation will not cure this type of cancer. We have been doing energy work which helps but periods make the tumor grow more. We are looking to find out if there is any other type of treatment for this condition that is alternative. I have some carsinoma homeopathic beads Will this help?

My mom had breast cancer last year and she came out fine. But for the last month she has had a sharp pain in her lower back pain. TODAY they gave the news we werent expecting, the cancer has returned. The doctor told her that it came back but, of course since it was the over phone he wouldnt get into details. Does it mean that because she has lower back pains for about month now that it has spread and that its probably really bad? And that it might be too late? Do you know anyone had the same problem and was caught on time and survived? I am so scared I dont want my mom to go away =( Do you have in personal stories that you can share with me? I would truly appreciate it! Thanks!!

JAMA news today Inexpensive protection for HIV patients.

I have long suggested in my humble opinion trying Selenium for Chemotherapy and Radiation patients.

http://www.torontodailynews.com/index.php/HealthNews/2007012307Selenium-HIV

"Advances in antiretroviral therapy (ART) have given HIV patients a longer life expectancy, according to background information in the article. However, strict adherence to the therapy is required to keep HIV viral counts low, and there is a risk of toxic effects and metabolic dysfunction.

“Given the challenges of using conventional pharmacotherapy to achieve and maintain virologic suppression in HIV-spectrum disease, our results support the use of selenium as a simple, inexpensive and safe adjunct therapy,” the authors conclude in an article in the January 22 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine, one of the JAMA/Archives journals. My Aunty has breast cancer. She's taking chemotherapy pills. I went to check on her, and she didn't really respond to me. When I asked her a question she didn't really answer me. She kinda just looked at me with a blank look, and I basically answered myself. She and I have been having problems, but I moved passed everything because she's sick. Is she acting strangely because of the medicine and because she's sick or...? I just need help understanding. I'm not sure what to say or how to act around her anymore. Because of the past and because I can't say I understand what she's going through when I don't. Pleas help me.

Basicaly I have a high white cell count. Had a couple tests done for lukemia awhile back and nothing was found. I would go back every 6 months to get things rechecked. All that was found was I still had elevated counts. No signs of infection anywhere. Well I haven't gone back for about a year now. They told me of symptoms to watch out for. Lately I have noticed little pinprick looking blood spots on my arms. First they appear red, fade to brown and then go away but I am constantly getting more. I wake up with at least 15 new ones a day....anyway it can be connected to my high cell count or worrying about nothing?

I have been having a lot of colds lately and my doctor sent me to have a chest x-ray last week. Yesterday they called and said that they didn't like what they saw on it and wanted me to have a ct scan. So I went to the hospital this morning and had the ct scan done. I was looking on the doctors orders and the diagnosis said LLL Opacity. I looked online and all I could find is case studies of bronchoalveolar carcinoma. I am totally confussed. Is this lung cancer or not. If so is it treatable? I am only 28 and I have a wonderfull husband and 2 beautiful little girls and I can't leave them. If you have any answers I would really appreciate it.

One of my best friends has had leukemia and is finally getting better after plenty of chemo and therapy and the like. Before she got sick we were planning on getting tattoos together, but now she is not sure if she should because of the medical rammifications after having had chemo. Is there any validity to this? (We both want to know!)
