My brother has become convinced of the power of Vitamin B17, an alleged cure for cancer. I was wondering if any of you had any thoughts about the subject.

More information:
http://www.worldwithoutcancer.org.uk/ (pro B17)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_B17 (more neutral)
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/cam/laetrile/patient/Page2#Section_23 (somewhat skeptical)

Surgery. Chemo. Radiotherapy.

They, and their variations, are the only cures that work, when it is possible to give them.

A lot of people have been cured that way. Proof : only half of cancer patients die from it (check stats at your local cancer association). The other half has NOT been treated with the alleged B17 cure, but with one of those. Listen, and read people who have actually survived cancer, those that are close to you. They will tell you. A lot of people are trying to make money out of desperate people with supposedly natural cures that kill 'specifically' cancer cells. Don't listen to them. Such a treatment does not exist yet. Half the medication on the market right now comes from nature (have a look at the pharmacist's bible, the compendium of pharmaceuticals), and still is NOT perfect and without side-effect.

You want a natural chemo agent ? Placlitaxel (taxol). Extracted from cedar tree. Extremely toxic. You have to take massive doses of cortisone to keep horrible side-effects at bay. I know. My best friend receives this stuff every 20 days.

There are things that will help you in nature. Of course. Nature has the best library of chemicals available. That's why pharmas finance drug prospection in different ecosystem (that's my dream job !). But no magical all-purpose cure. We still have to be smart to use what we find properly.

In 1990, I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma, stage 3-B, but I've survived. During the year in treatment, I started learning about alternative medicine.

Here's what I've figured out--FIRST, somebody--probably from the AMA--is getting my answers deleted as 'not a question or an answer', because they don't want you to know about it. So if you want to keep this information, you need to copy it to a wordpad document quickly, before it disappears. Hopefully, they'll give up and stop that nonsense soon. Now, here goes--

Cancer is caused by poor nutrition (including oxygen) and stressors. Stressors can be environmental, like heavy metals, food additives or pollution, or emotional or job stress.
Our bodies have 60 trillion--yes, trillion--cells, and there are always some mutating into cancer cells, but a healthy immune system kills them before they have a chance to get a foothold in the body.
It takes a LONG time, usually, or an exrtaordinary amount of stressors, to degrade the immune system to the point where it won't do its job, but once cancer has formed, it can spread rapidly.

THIS IS IMPORTANT! There are ways to BEAT cancer that the AMA is keeping from the American public, that are being used in Europe and around the world. Here is some information that is getting hard to find--

"The Cure for All Cancers", ISBN 0963632825;
"A Cancer Therapy", ISBN 0882681052;
"Hydrogen Peroxide--Medical Miracle", ISBN 1885236077;
"The Natural Cure for Cancer--Germanium", ISBN 0533071410;
"Killing Cancer", ISBN 0705000966.

Type 'used books' into your browser and find a good site, then type in the ISBN numbers and get some great help cheap.

I know of people whose cancer has 'spontaneously remitted' (WENT AWAY for no known reason) after they went on a program of herbs and nutrition.

The American Medical Association (AMA) and the pharmaceutical companies control medical law in this country, and they are in it for the money, and don't care about individuals. You and your family must look out for yourselves to stand a chance of being healthy.

This is not a joke, and I'm not selling anything. Look into it. Best of luck.

As far as I know there's no cure for cancer yet,chemotherapy ,radiation treatment,surgical intervention are still the common treatment for cancer,depending on what type and what organ or part of the body,age,weight and all those are considered....the treatment that i've mentioned are not cures,cancer or tumor cells are only in remission when it stops growing after whatever treatment you received some and it also depends on early detection and prevention,the earlier you find out the better are your chances of survival,that's why yearly physical check up with your doctor is a must...depending also on the stage or how far or wide your cancer has spread....if it's in the 1st stage you're most likely to get rid of the cancer cell to grow and spread but that doesn't mean you're safe from not having it again,they may resurface in no time...if it's in the 3rd or last stage most of the time,the doctor will advice the family depending if they have all used up their options and still no change and the response is very poor and the prognosis is slim to none,they will advice what's called palliative care-meaning since the cancer has widely spread and has not been responding to any treatment..they might as well just take care of the underlying symptoms of the patient to make them comfortable,and less side effects,their focus will more likely to control pain as much as they can and provide comfort on their remaining days.

I work for a group of Oncologists, and if there was a cure for cancer, I would not have a job, and the person who invented the cure would be rich!! So, the answer is a resounding "NO." It is true that the rate of cancer has decreased due to earlier detection through medical screenings, but there is not a cure.

although b17 IS an effective PREVENTATIVE measure, once cancer developes, b17 can not CURE it. B17 must be taken before cancer is present.

no there is not a single cure for all cancers. there isnt even a single cure for any one cancer, however they have figured out what causes most cervical cancer and have a vaccine for it, though it will not help every person 100% of the time, its the first time they have managed to figure out what causes a single sort of cancer and learn to create a vaccine for it.

I am afraid that currently there is no cure. Perhaps what we can do is preventive measure. Try to exercise more, keep stress level low and eat less. Everyone of us got cancer cells in our body and it is matter of time when there is breakdown of body system. Our body system is similar to engine, overwork will die.I lost my Dad due to lung cancer.

No there isn't a cure for all types of cancers. I wish there was as I recently lost my mother to this disease. Hopefully in the future there will be. I pray every day for this to happen.

Even if there is a cure they would not tell you because it is multi billion business.
I've seen this guy in infomercial he claims that there is cure for diabetes, but they don't tell us. He may be right.

Here is something to think about: a food packaging company for famous cheese bowls uses X-ray to check it's contents. That's just one way they use radiation.

"and the person who invents the cure would be rich!!"
He'll be dead before he get's rich.
