You might try the american cancer Society and other related websties. I wouldn't go much by what people say on here because you'll just get too many varied and even weird answers.
I know that I have read rates just over 55% in the US and a little higher for those under 50yrs old. This is ALL cases. For early detection in the US it is 94% according to the National foundation for Cancer Research.

In 2001 in the UK (Which since you said mum, I'm guessing you may be there) it was 47% overall. Again thats all cases. I'm sure higher for early detection. The 5 year survival rate (UK) for women 40-49 is 81%, 50-59 is 74% and 60-69 is 67%

finally, there are several types of bladder cancers. It is so hard to say.

I do wish your mother well and i say a little prayer for you both.

How is the bladder effected? The whole bladder or just the lining of it? If it is the lining of the bladder it has a great success rate. My step mom had it about ten years ago and is still doing fine. She didnt even have to go through chemo or radiation. I think they just removed the lining. It is slow growing cancer but if left untreated can spread to the uretha tubed and possibly to the kidney. That is what happened to her. Her doctor told her to go ahead and go away south for the winter and they would take care of it when she got home. She ended up getting a new uretha tube made and did lose the one kidney but that is all she needed. Hope all goes well for you.

it will totally depend on the stage that the cancer was at when it was found. I think your best bet is talking to your mum about it and maybe go along to see her consultant with her and ask them some questions. Don't scare yourself with stories you read on the net as every case is different.
I hope everything goes well for your mum :)
