Alternative Medicine - March 2007

I smoked for only the second time this year on Friday (two nights ago). In 2006 I was an extremely heavy smoker, mostly an 8th a day. I need to know whether I will be able to pass a drug test tonight. Keep in mind that it is an at home drug test. I am 6 feet tall and weigh 120 lbs. My body fat is about 6-8%. Most people said that if you smoke once that it will stay merely 1-3 days? Also, I would like to know any quick at home remedies anyone has. No need to post if you just post quit drugs-I already know.

Once the epiphyseal plates of the long bones have closed, further bone growth is considered impossible. Considering that height, or lack thereof, has considerable sociological ramifications, will it be possible to one day "choose" our height? Many of you know that shorter people are on average paid less, date less, and are respected less. A recent study revealed that shorter people may even be less intelligent.

I already know about growth hormone for children, but the maximum height you can gain from it is 3". I'm too old for it as it is.

Can biotechnology, nanotechnology, future medical technology help allieviate this disease to the people it has already inflicted? We already have the "Ilizarov Method," or 'limb lenghtening' method as one form of primative invasive biotechnology.

Recently, an ultrasound device has been developed by scientists to regrow teeth. It may be one day used for people to gain height. Please read the attached link. When do you think this will happen?

I've heard that chinese tea will neutralise the supplement and in another instance it will cause my hair to turn white. Are these true?

I have seriously 12 scars on my legs. I went the other day to buy scar removal lotion, but it costs too much for me to buy constantly for my legs. I was wondering if anyone knew a home remedy or something to help me with this issue.

I got my German Shepherd when she was 7 months old, my home was her 4th home. I have had her for over a year now and I still see some nervous tendancies in her. I love her to pieces; she has never been reprimanded harshly here but I do wonder about her previous homes. I have heard of a homeopathic remedy that has a calming effect on dogs and wondered if anyone could help me out with the name of it. The local health food stores aren't aware of it. Thanks!

I have been having killer "Charlie Horse's" in the middle of the night. I know that when you have these muscle spasms it's your body's way of telling you that you need potassium. I also know that potassium is found in bananas, but I dislike bananas with a passion. Is potassium found in any other fruit/vegetable/food besides bananas?

This is the last time I ask a question about my infected toe, I swear. I'm just frustrated at the idea of going to the hospital becuase I do. not. have the money.

Basics: Cut's been there for a few weeks in various states of almost healed/ugly again. Is near the tip of my big toe. My foot is now noticably hotter than the noninfected side and swells at night.

I've seen in other answers some people saying garlic stems infections. It was even suggested to put IN someone's ear for an ear infection - I figure if you can put it so close to your brain, surely I could use it on my toe?

My only worry is, can I apply it directly to an open, albeit small, wound? I refuse to go to the hospital until tomorrow anyway, and I am experiencing none of the 'red lines' or fever that might indicate blood poisoning.

So. Can I use garlic? If so, how should I prepare and apply it?
