Alternative Medicine - February 2007

I have a kidney infection in my right kidney. The pain is pretty severe; it feels sort of like I sprained my back. I am a soda addict so I typically drink a lot of soda and little water. I know this is the cause, but now I am drinking water and I was wondering if there is a natural remedy to speed up the healing process, as the pain is pretty severe. I don't have insurance so going to the doctor is out of the question unless it is life or death. Please help.

It is associated with stress, but I don't know if stress is the cause or is just an influence. When I have something hard to do, my muscles become tight and my heart speeds up. Even if I'm very enthusiastic about the work, I still get this reaction. Later I feel a little pressure in my head and my skin raises in temperature and gets wet. Later, my sinuses heart and my gums are bleeding easily. If it gets worse, I throw up and after that I get a relief. I have to realize in time that I enter this pattern of reactions and go to sleep. Sleep it's a natural cure for this state. If I experience this at the problem at the highest intensity, I wake up with a little rigidity at the back of my neck.
Interesting, I get easily in this state if I eat spicy food or with onions or drink alcohol (like two glasses of wine).
Please give me an explanation if this sounds like something you know about. Thank you!

Is passion fruit juice a natural tranquilizer? I have heard it has a calming effect and that in Brazil, where the fruit grows in plenty, its a well known natural tranquilizer and popular drink.

I haven't been sick once since taking them, my energy is high and my anxiety and stress levels have been reduced greatly as well. I would like to know if anyone has heard of any adverse affects from green tea extract??

At an expo, there was a chiropractor (I've never been to one) who scanned people's upper neck with a device that measured heat I think. They showed a picture on the computer of the areas that have anomalies. Does anyone know what type of machine this may be?

I know that more and more people are turning towards alternative treatments, in hope that they won't be perscribed 100 different kinds of pills for a cough (exaggeration, of course). But are holistic treatments still frowned upon in many places in the U.S? What are most people's views on holistic treatments?
Any websites where I can find out more about it?

Just to clear it up, I DO NOT smoke pot, but this kid at my school gets made fun of. He is really pale all the time, and people always call him a pothead because of it. I haven't really heard much about marijuana making you pale, but is this true?
