I would stick to natural remedies, tea with lemon, honey, herbal linden tea. You can make your own onion syrup.
Look up the recipes on the web and choose the one you like. The recipe is not very tasty, but it works and is safe for your baby. Hope you'll get better soon.

Talk to your doctors office. Your doctor may suggest something different than Tylenol if you get really bad head congestion depending on your health history. Something s/he may not have recommended in early pregnancy, might be perfectly safe now that you are in the 2nd trimester (and more effective as well). Tylenol isn't all that effective for many people and completely ineffective for me. For instance, I get bronchitis and sinus infections when I get colds, so my doc wants me to take Actifed as soon as I have the slightest hint of head cold. The goal is to prevent an infection. However, I might not be able to take this med in the latter half of pregnancy because of previous kidney issues (your kidneys are under more stress the further you go in pregnancy). For some women, they can't take either Actifed or Sudafed because they already have elevated blood pressure and these drugs will further raise it. The doctor has to decide if something else would be appropriate then.

Sudafed is safe. Really though, my phamacist said they don't know much about cold medicines during pregnancy because it's unethical to test on pregnant women. The only info they have, comes from women who have been pregnant...taken cold medicine...and reported that it did nothing negative. Ask your pharmacist when you buy cold medicine. 'C' class drugs are the safer ones to take. (The class type is from my OB AND pharmacist. I'm pregnant now as well.) I called the nurse line at our local hospital, and they told me to ask the pharmacist.

Call the ER and ask a nurse or the Dr. in the morning. Until then drink tea and honey and lots of vitamin c and maybe a pain relieverlike tylenol.
