I have a kidney infection in my right kidney. The pain is pretty severe; it feels sort of like I sprained my back. I am a soda addict so I typically drink a lot of soda and little water. I know this is the cause, but now I am drinking water and I was wondering if there is a natural remedy to speed up the healing process, as the pain is pretty severe. I don't have insurance so going to the doctor is out of the question unless it is life or death. Please help.

Sorry to tell you this, but it may well become a matter of life and death. Kidney infections are much more serious and severe than bladder infections.

You would do best to go to an emergency room, because kidney infections are almost always treated with antibiotics. In Australia we will often treat them with intravenous antibiotics.

The home remedies you can try are no substitute for definitive treatment.

Infections are not caused by soda, they are caused by germs. There is no cranberry juice Drink that will kill germs in your kidneys, however kidney disease will kill you so get your fanny into the dr and take some penicillin. If you are destitute you can go on medicaid. But go, hospitals have provisions for poverty speak to a social worker when you get there.
I would love to put these questions up on the board for all those who laugh at the idea of Universal Health care in the US.

Please ignore the goings on of those who wish to fleece you of your money and give you no relief.

I suffer very badly with kidney problems as I have three of them. Two things that always worked for me, lots of cranberry juice or there is product on the market called cysto purin, available at any drug store. Or you could boil up some barley in water and drink the hot water. not very pleasant but it does work very well

Without care, you may get repeated kidney infections and even kidney failure. The infection could also spread to other parts of your body and cause worse problems.

Edit Note: A kidney infection is caused by more than just free bacteria. The above user should take caution in advising on things he or she knows little about. All problems of the body are caused in part by the body's inability to protect itself. Your body will not allow your kidney to become infected if it operates properly. Read bellow for some quick fixes, but please do change your eating and drinking habits along'with.

- ORGANIC/NO-ADDITIVE HERBAL TEAS

- FRESH, ORGANIC FRUIT AND WATER-HEAVY VEGETABLES.

- FILTERED WATER that is FREE of contaminants (not bottled water; buy a cheap water filter that protect against flouride).

- Rest, walking exercise, exclusion of drugs (medical or otherwise), etc.

- Clove oil oral supplementation.

When drinking fluids, make sure that it's clean and safe. Fruit juices are fine, but they may not be flash-heated (sterilized in any way, more or less).
Drink slowly, as to avoid putting pressure on your kidneys to detox and force evac. the liquid.
When buying clove oil, look for essential oils, and make sure that it's organic. Clove oil has the highest antioxidant ORAC rating of any edible on the market that's been tested. (by weight and content %age) This will aid your body's elimination of toxin buildup in the kidneys and liver.

Stop drinking cola or ANY carbonated beverage, stop eating sugar (unless it comes directly from a fruit or vegetable), lower 'bad fat' intake and raise intake of fats like fish oils, coconut oil, etc.

Don't drink bottled water. Test the pH of bottled water, and check for microscopic contamination. You'll never drink that factory-produced stuff again. : P

When buying fruits and vegetables (which you must do if you wish to rid yourself of extreme future problems in this situation...), buy only organic, if possible. If necessary, eat less to eat better. You won't die if you stop eating 4000 extra calories of food... trust me. I would recommend a periodic juice or water fast, but I'm afraid it would place too much of a load on your detoxification processes. (In other words, you would clean your body so fast that you'de end up with more visible symptoms for a while that you have now, like severe headaches, stomach pains, etc.)

If possible, skip normal breakfast times each day to drink herbal tea. This will accelerate your healing process tenfold, I promise. If you go to work during these times (or school), buy a thermos of some sort and STILL drink it.

A kidney infection is a very serious problem, even though most doctors won't agree. (They're also the ones that get more and more money from growing problems that THEY totally ignore...)

I've known many people to have kidney and liver problems, and the techniques listed above helped and sometimes cured them of short term and long term problems. Get out of the disgusting habit of drinking and eating pure sugar and cooked animal fats. If you don't believe that you'll simply fall over dead one day by ignoring enormous problems like this, you're 'dead wrong'. ; )

Good luck, and be easy on your body; Go to no extremes, and most importantly, eat fresh, water-heavy produce.
